The Pre-Adamite theory is based on the Gap Theory. The Gap Theory is that there is a gap between Gen 1:1 and 1:2 of an undeterminate time. Some have proposed that Lucifer reigned on earth with his angels and lived here and served God until Lucifer's fall which facilitated the destruction of the earth that cased it to be without form (Gen1:2). This comes from the idea that God would not create the earth as a void aka useless. The main objection to this theory is that God also would not build the earth basing it on the death from before. But, evil already existed, hence the creation of the Tree of Good and Evil. And, the Bible says that nothing died until after Adam's fall. But, the pre-adamite men were theorized to be Lucifer and his angels. This term is completely man-made and did not come into being until the 17/1800's. Whether it is true is up to you to research. I do not discount it, but hold it as a viable theory because it allows for all of the hard evidences that have been found by our science. (When I say hard evidences, I do not remotely mean anything to do with evolution. I mean the dinosaurs and other geological/ paleantology finds.)

dave - no, I'm just seeking to understand why Cain refers to "whosoever finds me" not "if my brothers find me", and it's not until later that it specifically mentions other sons...

Oh, ok. I didn't understand what you were asking. This is one part of the Bible I have never understood. It is pausible that they could have had other children and not had them recorded. Outside of that, I do not know what it could be. I do not think the Pre-Adamites would have still been around, because the earth was null and void on Day 1. That is, IF you hold to the theory of the Pre-Adamites as it is most often told. It is all educated guessing and it can not be proven.
