I make it a habit to pray at mealtime, but many times I thank God for things and pray for other people (such as false preachers and the like). Many times I don't know what to say and don't know if I'm praying enough for the Lord. I also keep a prayer journal.

i found that when we are freed from our sins we learn to love God more, and out of that love we begin to pray for people because we love them to find Jesus in their lives as well.

His growing love in my life helped a lot learning to pray without ceasing.

Peace.

As you mentioned, there's petitioning God, giving thanks, and praising Him.

We're to pray without ceasing (I Thess 5:17). It's keeping our minds on the Lord. We can pray for everyone (I Tim 2:1-3).

What a privilege it is to pray - the One and Only God.

yes

"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:1-4)

So, yes certain wrong preachers can seem so important and to have such influence. But we in Jesus have the faith which through prayer can help any person, at all. God knows who we are, and He says "first of all" to pray for any and all people. So, God knows our all-loving prayer works :)

God is interested in a two way conversation, so keep up the good work.
When you are open to listen, He will be there to instantly respond.
If you don't get a response, then you need to double-up on your being open.
Double up again and again.

Hello RJ,

I am reading ' a purpose driven life' by Rick Warren and in it he writes that God wants a relationship with us: the same type of relationship you would have with a friend. He writes that God wants us to talk to Him as we would as if he were our friend.

I have been testing this out recently and it does help, and i highly recommend the book, if you have not read it.

i also think that not knowing what to say means that you are sincere and not saying a bunch of things that you think you ought to say as God does not want that. keep being honest with Him. He wants you to reason and discuss things with Him.

P.S. i have learned that listening should be a big part of prayer too, so you dont need to be the one always talking or thinking what you should say.

Good luck and God bless,

James.
