Biggest praying mantis I have ever seen. Not likely to survive the winter. I felt sorry for this apex predator that spent her days eating up all of those bugs.

They're wonderful creatures, I've never seen one up close!
I also like stick insects, but they are even more difficult to sight
I saw only one walking stick out in the woods fifty years ago. But I could have walked by many more and never known. Excellent camouflage.

I've only seen a couple ever outside. I wish I'd run into more! Do you run into them a lot, OP?
Spiders, ants, & bees are most common here :(
I ran into two different ones. The one inhabited our Morning Glory outside the back door. I saw it many times.

But it's winter now.
