  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am still very new to all these thoughts on Orthodoxy, including morning and evening prayers. I bought a book that includes morning and evening prayers called "The Orthodox Study Bible" published by Thomas Nelson in 2008, and it has morning and evening prayers listed in the back of that Bible.

Are these the same prayers that Orthodox Christians do every morning and evening? If not, what prayers do they do?

The prayers in the OSB are more or less the same prayers as universally accepted morning and evening prayers that we do.

Thanks for your reply. In the OSB prayers, there is reference to the Lectionary in the OSB (for daily readings of the Gospel and Epistle). I turned to the Lectionary, but didn't know what week I should be reading from. Is this week the 4th week before Lent?

I think if you check an archdiocesan website ( like the Greek, Antiochian, OCA etc.), you should find the daily scripture readings that should match to the lectionary rotation. I would check it but I am not in a Wi-Fi zone and watching my data use.
