My church is going to be making a big step tomorrow. For those of you I have not talked to, me and my family are at a church right now as home missionaries. We are helping to build up the church and to make it the body that God wants it to be.
Tomorrow there is going to be a meeting of the entire body after the morning service. At this time, the pastor is going to present the church with modifications that he believes God wants us to make. I agree with all he has spoken to me about, but I am afraid of what the congregation is going to feel as a result of all of it.
Just to let you know the kinds of things that are going to be discussed:
The church started because of a problem with its mother church. Members got angry at what was happening in the church, and broke off to start another one. The pastor strongly feels that it was a sin to create the church as a result of anger. He feels that God wants us to go to the mother church and offer an apology, seeking their forgivness. He doesn't believe that we can make the church what it is supposed to be until we make that step.
Now, any of you that have been in a ministry such as this understand what kind of a step this is. The "charter members" are going to react in a way that is completely unpredictable to us!
I covet your prayers for my church. Thank you!!!
