  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Prayers, please

So, good news doesn't last long. :( They ended up finding two blockages in his heart and will be keeping him in the hospital and putting in another stent (he's up to 20 or 21 stents now).

My DH went to visit him last night and found him and his roommate chowing down on a bucket of fried chicken. It frustrates me b/c he's selfish (yeah, he's 83 - but still) and doesn't take care of himself and sends all of us on this emotional rollercoaster about once every 3 months or so. I love him dearly, but... :unbelievable:

He just sounds like a man set in his ways. Maybe he just feels like he's done enough in his life and is happy and content.

My dad does a lot of things that hurt my mom and I because we feel like he's just willing himself to pass away, but he said one time that he's extremely happy with his life, and if he passed away tomorrow that that would be okay because he knew he had God, and knew he lived a great life and had a wonderful family. I don't know your grandpa but maybe that's how he feels. :sorry: I know exactly how you feel though.

 Prayers are still heading your way. :)

Yeah, I don't really blame him for wanting to live out the end of his days doing what he enjoys. But, when what someone enjoys is self-destructive it just seems counter-productive. I know he doesn't do it to intentionally hurt us, though, so I certainly don't hold a grudge with him. I just already struggle with the idea that he will someday not be here to give me his amazing hugs or magically pull a piece of candy out of nowhere for my boys (who adore him as much as I do). :sorry:

Thank you for the continued prayers, Jennie.

That's a man for ya!! My dad is also 83, and he's much the same way, does what he wants, doesn't take medical advice. But I say, if you reach 80, you've earned the right to do whatever the heck you want, lol. God bless em. I love old people! Of course, it drives my poor mother crazy, because she (of course) loves him and wants to see him taking good care of himself.

God has been so kind to leave my dad with us this long, and I pray He lets him stay many more years. But no matter what, I'm so thankful he's been with us so long.
