We recently opened our home to a semi feral (tame with us but not anyone else) momma and her one remaining baby. They are going to the vet for the first time tomorrow, and are bound to be scared. In addition, they will be tested for rampant feline diseases (at least the momma, baby might be too small yet) and vaccinated. The momma's going in to get spayed. The baby's probably only going in for a weight check and deworming since he is only 7 weeks old.

Please pray that testing on the diseases is negative. While we would still bring them home if they were positive, we don't want to hear bad news. Both have settled in well and enjoy cuddling with us. Also pray that they don't act too scared.

Drop off went well. We removed food from the momma about 8 PM last night so that she would have an empty stomach. To get her into her crate we did drop like 3 treats into it. I don't think that will be a biggie. They didn't cry in the crate while we were in the car, and as we were the first people at the vet's office they were taken back quickly. We brought the little guy home with some dewormer. He weighs just 1 pound and they are saying 4 weeks. We don't know whose baby he was then, but if he's not Binky's baby, at least she has been nursing him. We know what day Binky gave birth, and if he's not just a VERY small kitten for his age, we have no clue who the mother was.

So we don't know any test results yet or anything... but drop off went well.

Well, we brought Binky back home after her spay. Her bloodwork was just fine and the feline leukemia/ feline immunodeficiency virus test came back negative, which is great considering she was feral for a year. She is also vaccinated for the year. Right now she's mad at us and is hiding under the couch, but this should go away.

That's great! Hope the other little kitty is going to be OK too.
