Prayers for Mel Gibson

Some of you may have not like The Passion of the Christ. Maybe you don't even like Gibson. You might even be hoping He gets what he deserves.

I myself was very moved by the Passion of the Christ. I own the DVD. I also believe he is a brother in the Lord who is having struggles and even if you believe he is not "saved" I am asking that you join me in prayer for him.

Back in 2004 Mel admitted that he had suicidal thoughts. Now I have read in the news today someone close to him said that Gibson is trying to stay alive. Can you imagine his shame being in the public eye?

I hope this doesn't turn into a debate. If you don't like Gibson please ignore this thread and don't pray. I was actually looking for a website that would encourage prayer for Mr. Gibson but I could only find old sites that were asking for people to pray for him concerning the TPOTC. If you know or any current sites up for prayer and encouragement for Mr. Gibson, please let me know.

So because I couldn't find any I decided to start a prayer thread for Mel.

Here's my 1st prayer:

Lord Jesus Christ. You are full of mercy and compassion. You said that the one who comes to You You shall in no wise cast out. You never cast out any sinner who cries out to you for mercy and help. We have all been there Father. We have all asked for Your mercy and have obtained it.

Yeshua I ask with tears that you would do all you can to express your unconditional love to this man right now. What Satan has meant for evil I pray that you would turn it into good. Thank you for granting true repentance to his heart.

I pray that your Church would now be the hands, feet and heart of Jesus. Surround him with people who will uplift and encourage him.

I also pray that he would be able to talk to the jewish leaders as he requested and that the chasm would be bridged.

I am also asking that you would protect his mind from thoughts of suicide. Give him a healthy mind. Give him hope for his future.

I ask this in the all powerful name of Jesus Christ.

I ask in Your Holy Name that You release Mel Gibson from the attacks of the devil and bring him to a kind of peace that only You can give. I pray that You give him what he needs to get through these tough times and that You would relieve him of the addiction of alcohol. Relieve him of the pain and circumstances that have caused him to go down that path. Remind him that Christians are just sinners who are forgiven and that all Christians stumble in their walk as they try to live the sacrificial life we are called to live. Most of all, allow him to feel Your Holy Presence and Your Love.

Father, I just lift up Mel Gibson before you now and I thank you for the wonderful work you have done through him in the making of this movie, The Passion of Christ. I thank you for his conviction, and the opportunity you presented to so many to know Christ's suffering for them through this movie. I pray Lord, that you will continue to open the hearts and minds of those who you will work in through this.

Father, we know that whatever work is done for you the enemy will come in like a floodgate and try to wash away all that you have accomplished. But Father, we also know that you are Sovereign, and that you will not give your children more than they can stand. I pray Lord, that in these trying times, that you will use them to make yourself, and your will known to Mel very clearly. I pray that you will remove all doubt, all unbelief, all fear, and any thoughts and actions that are outside your will for him. Father God, I thank You for this person's heart. Lord I lift Mel Gibson up to You at this time. Father I pray that He has a copy of the Bible and that, if he doesn't already, he'll read it on a daily basis to get to know You better. Lord I believe You have given him a purpose in life and I pray that You continue to sustain him. Lord he's really been hurting, even thinking about taking his own life. Lord, You are the one who decides when we live and die. I pray that he comes to know this. I pray for his salvation Lord, that He comes to know You for who You truly are.. loving, Good, faithful, honest, trustworthy, the list goes on and on. Lord please help him to smile each day and to experience true love, joy, and peace. Lord I thank You for this movie that led many people to the cross for the first time. I pray for all who are lost.
