  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not sure where to post this, but I just want to share it. Something that happened to my friend that makes me smile or laugh every time I think of it.

Last week my friend went for a visit with his class. Before starting their journey, they prayed. As we live in Malaysia, the official religion here is Islam since most people here are Muslim, so they prayed their way.

My friend wasn't satisfied so he told them he want to pray in behalf of Christian students (there are 3 Christian student in his class including himself). They approved his request and decided that they all pray together, they pray their way, and my friend pray his way as a Christian.

When they started to pray, my friend prayed as loud as he can, saying "Tuhan Allah Bapa kami di dalam kerajaan syurga..." (God, Our Father who is in heaven)... he continued praying without realizing what was going on around him. When he was done, he opened his eyes and saw everyone was looking at him with their eyes wide open . Then he realized that when he was praying out loud, nobody can hear the other person pray. They never heard Christians pray before, so they didn't know what my friend was doing.

But I really admire him for what he had done. He has the courage to stand up between unbelievers even though he could get into trouble by doing so.
