I posted this in the women's discussion thread as well because I am very close with the women there...but I ask for ya'lls prayers as well.
I really need us all to group together in prayer for this
My sister, Cathy, is 24 years old, as is her husband Nathan. They have a son named Brock who just turned 1 year old on November 25. They have been married 3 years now. They're 3 year anniversary was in October. Well, currently, my sister and her son are living with us. Nathan has made up his mind, that he just doesn't think he loves her anymore. He said if it weren't for Brock they would already be divorced. He is unwilling to talk to her about it and let her and him try and work it out. Cathy called around and set up a counseling session with a Christian counselor for Tuesday December 8, at 10:00am. I don't know if he'll be willing to go yet.
This is all very stressful on my entire family right now. First of all, Nathan proclaims to be a Christian man of God...yet is looking at divorce as the only option. Cathy has never once cheated on Nathan, although right now, there is a question of cheating on Nathan's part since he has admitted before that he has told Cathy he would be working all night, and then later told her it didn't take that long to finish his work..and told her he just didn't want to come home. He has said very hurtful things and while Cathy is doing all she can to hold her marriage together, Nathan keeps saying he doesn't want everyone to hate him if he were to divorce her....he's already looking at that as the only option. We could really use some prayer warriors right now. God hates divorce! The bible says that you shouldn't divorce unless there was infidelity. Now if Nathan was unfaithful, that gives CATHY the right to divorce HIM...not him the right to divorce her...and Cathy is absolutely against divorce. This is really tearing Cathy up, she is taking care of her 1 year old son all by herself, living on an inflatable mattress in our living room with her son, because she doesn't want to kick us out of our beds. What's awful on top of all this is Nathan says he's been thinking this way for a long while (and just now telling us about it, they've only been seperated for a week) and yet they just went out and bought a Durango with a HEFTY monthly payment, which isn't making this any easier.
Please pray...please pray that God opens their eyes...both of their eyes. Pray that Nathan remembers why he fell in love with Cathy...and that once he finds that love again, that he holds onto it. This is worst for Brock. He doesn't deserve to be put through this. That little baby was a GODSEND! They tried for 15months to conceive him...that baby was birthed out of love...and Nathan needs to find that love again and hold onto it and cherish it. Pray for Cathy, that she is able to cope with this. That she is able to be strong, and love Nathan with a tough love...to not make this easy on him and let him just walk away with no strings. Pray that she is able to change her ways as well, because she does have a nagging tendency and that probably has frustrated Nathan. And please pray for Brock. That he will be able to have a loving family. That he will be one of the blessed who has two parents that not only love him with all their hearts...but love eachother as well.
I know that God will have His will and His way in this....all things work for good to them who love God. I pray that God will again be the center of their relationship. I pray that Nathan will turn to God and vent out his frustrations and his doubts to GOD instead of venting them to his friend. I pray that Nathan surrounds himself with Christian men and asks THEM for advice and prayers, instead of non-Christians who see no problem with divorce. I pray that no matter what happens, that God is glorified, and that God has His hand over all 3 of those precious lives that will be affected by this the most. To God be the glory!
Thank you for your prayers.
On a side note: Cathy is going down to the alter Sunday morning to ask for prayer from our entire church as well. Please keep your prayers with all three of them, and I thank you so much!
