  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Prayer Walking

To be honest, I personally probably wouldn't do prayer walking, because the process -feels- a lot like a pagan ritual or two I used to do back when I was still enamoured with those things.

This association I'm sure would not present itself for people who have not been through those experiences, so I really don't see a problem with it  But for me, the association would be way too close and very awkward.

I've personally never done a prayer walk intentionally, but I do often pray when I'm walking. I like to sort things out in my head and pray about them as I'm walking.

I should do a prayer walk in my neighborhood and pray for all of my neighbors. I think that would be cool.

That sounds like a good idea. I can't plan when I pray. I guess you could say it just happens when it happens. That would be a good idea to pray for your neighborhood like that. I must try it.

I didn't read the entire thread here, just the part where someone explained what prayer walking is.

With that being said..I "prayer walk" a lot. It's more like pacing and thinking, while praying intermittently. I wish I prayed the whole time instead of mulling things over in my own head. Next, I personally don't this activity has any biblical formula to it. In fact, we're told to 'sit still and know the salvation of the Lord'.

I can kind of see this too because I really haven't noticed much positive fruit while "prayer walking". To me it seems like a bad habit more than anything else. That's just me though.

blind post.

the only place i've ever heard the prayer walking thing mentioned was in the Transformations video years ago (which has been debunked quite thoroughly). I wouldn't make a ritual out of it myself, because i'm not into rituals. Its not mentioned in the Bible as a practice Christians should be keeping. it also seems to go against the whole Matt 6:5-6 thing. If i happen to be walking by a place or person and feel the Spirit tell me to pray for that specific place or person I will. but yeah i'm not into prayer walks.
