I'm in a somewhat interesting situation at the moment:
I'm attending grad school and have been randomly assigned to a study partner with whom I have to complete >50% of the classwork.
I'm lucky in that we get on extremely well and in addition to spending >60h/week together at school we also spend a good amount of time hanging out together. The two of us also travelled across the country for a week to attend a conference and had a really great time.
We've spent endless hours talking about everything and anything (incl. faith, values, family, childhood, plans for the future, every-day things etc.) and we probably know each other better than many couples after dating for several years.
In many ways we seem like a perfect match (and there have been quite a few people who have assumed we're dating), but there's one issue: While she believes in God in general terms, she is not really a Christian which is why I haven't asked her on a date (though I realize some people would argue that two people hanging out together qualifies as dating...).
While I do believe that dating a non-believer is a bad idea, at least in the long-run (2.Cor. 6:14), I'm somewhat disillusioned with the Christian approach to dating having seen so many Christian relationsship fall apart. It obviously doesn't help that most people in the conservative / Evangelical churches I've attended have a rather liberal view when it comes to relationships etc.
So I've been praying for her to find faith, but at the same time I think I should probably move on and stop hoping for us to get together. Any prayers are much appreciated.
