Hi Guys,

I have a prayer request I was hoping you could pass on. A friend of ours is going through a very rough time right now. His fiancee, Tara, has been diagnosed with leukaemia and it's getting worse. She's only 27 and the doctors say she'll be lucky to make it to 30. Right now they're trying her on some new type of treatment, but it's making her very sick. Our friend, Terry, is barely able to sleep or anything -- he's so worried about her. Please pray for both of them. That Tara will be healed and that they both have the strength to make it through this.

I appreciate the prayers. It's so sad to watch. God willing, maybe a miracle will happen.

Hi CS--sorry that it took me this long to see your new thread. I don't come here often and usually in the D&D section. But I will be praying for your friend.

Also--any way of getting her to an SDA health retreat for treatment? The medical conventional treatments will not offer much in the way of true healing.

Hi Sarah,

Good to hear from you. I will pray from your friend.

Yes, have you looked into natural health healings? The truth is that cancer even in late stage can be easily cured through food and herbs. Depends where they are...I know good Adventist doctors/healing clinics on both coasts.

I've been connected to the national integrative medicine scene for many years - including integrative medicine projects across the country. Comments like yours are one of the reasons alternative medicine has a bad name in the medical community.

A good source of information is a journal called Alternative Therapies. It was the first CAM journal to be indexed in the National Library of Medicine.

OntheDL - it is not my intention to be harsh, but I do care about this issue. I know your comment was well intended.

I had a family member with leukemia. It's a difficult path.

Sending blessings to Tara and the family.

Hi Avonia,

I knew it would be some reactions. I understand the background.

The mainstream medical industry profits from treating the symptoms, not from curing the cause. Naturally they paint alternative treatments in negative light. For years, they ridicule vitamins and herbal supplyment. Now they try to make them prescription only to profit from.

After God gave Israel the dietary laws, among the 3 million + in the wilderness, not one was sick. And Jesus treated and cured the sick with natural remedies. How is it that we do not believe God can perform the same miracle today?

I have seen many cases of people declared of months to live, but with natural remedies without going to pharmacy (pharmakia) live a long life with improved health if not totally cured.

I have also seen the same treatments failed for many others. Because it requires a life style change. Many lacked faith and weren't willing to give up their former life style.

God created man and made the earth with natural remedies to heal their afflictions. How is it a loving and all powerful God could not have perceived all of man's illness and have made provision for them? We just have to have faith God will lead us to the right doctors with the right treatments and follow through with the changes.

Thanks for the clarification.

There are thousands of traditional clinicians who are open to alternative medicine - although as you point out, it's still more of the exception than the rule.

Whenever we hold "us vs. the other" mindsets, we further marginalize CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) practitioners. I wouldn't see a physician who wasn't willing to be in conversation with my personal CAM providers. And I wouldn't see a CAM provider that saw the allopathic medical community as the enemy. We need everyone at the table in cooperation.

Cheers.

Hi guys,

Sorry for the delay in replying to this. Haven't been online much the past while -- been dealing with two more deaths (which makes that 8 for us in the past 3 years) that recently popped up. :( (No, not Tara.)

Thanks for all the prayers. I don't really know much about any of the alternative options for this kind of thing, but I'd appreciate some links if you don't mind? They don't have internet, but maybe God can lead me to help in some way.

Sadly, I have a bit of a bad update about the situation, though. :( Tara had a sudden heart attack the other day. Don't know what caused it, but it's probably due to the strain on her body from the new treatment she's been in (although I'm only guessing).

My mom and I don't actually know her, but we are heartbroken at how it's effecting Terry. He's so devoted -- he'll stay up all night, sitting beside her as she sleeps, with his phone beside him incase something goes wrong!

I know God is good and all of this is in His will, but man..it's all crashing down lately! I think I'ma go hide in a hole soon. *lol*

Love you guys! God bless!

Hi Daryl,

Okay, I guess. :) And thanks for the blessings! I miss you guys so much. Been crazy-busy lately. Working on getting my business/store up and running as well as a new website focussed towards praise (www.lettherebepraise.com). I wish I had time to come and talk here...barely even have time to email with anyone anymore.

As for the situation I was speaking of in this thread..I really don't know. :( We haven't heard from Terry in almost a month now. He was working for us on our garden and we had some...serious issues with his boss, so work got haulted. Terry has our number but hasn't called us since.

It's a shame, really. :sigh: We loaned him some money to help with the situation, too..and shortly after he started to stop coming into work an such. Who knows. I still keep them in my prayers, though.

How're you, Daryl? :)

ICTS--I cannot express how badly I feel for you for the loses you are experiencing. It truly is heart rending. Your faith in the Eternal must be very powerful.

I'm sure Tara did have a heart attack from the treatment she is recieving. The drugs given to patients at the 'conventional' (I believe that 'they' are the altenative to REAL healing--they usurped the Eternal's ways) clinic DO kill people. The very term 'pharmikia' comes from the Greek and means to "poison, witchcraft".

I pray she makes it through her 'treatments'! And I pray all is going well for you too.

Hi Honor

You know, I look at every single trial as another way I can help someone in the future -- whether by my testimony or by just understanding what they're going through. :) It also has a wonderful way of showing one just how much God really is ALL that matters and all that is constant in one's life.

We're up to 8 deaths in the past 3 years after a couple recently, and it's really taught me not to take life for granted -- nor the lives of those around us. Yet, even with all of the pain that it's caused (especially Adam's death, that completely destroyed me for awhile), there is so much peace with God. So much trust that it's all okay, because He's running the show. While I watch everyone else around me suffer from anxiety, stress, hate, and a lack of understanding, it really astounds me how much He can do for us if we let Him. How much joy He can bring us when the world cannot. :)

I wouldn't doubt that you're right. People put too much reliance on modern medicine, putting full trust in whatever their doctor says. My dad's death was in part caused by doctor error -- he's proof that we really need to do research into what we're being given.

Thank you for the prayers. I hope God's blessing you lately. ^_^
