  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just wanted to ask for prayers for my family right now, especially my parents. I currently have 3 foster sisters in my family, and things are a bit rough right now. The oldest one, Britteny, is 17 and has been causing a lot of problems lately. I know it's something that teenagers tend to go through, but these foster girls tend to take it farther than most kids would and when they want to hurt you they know what to do or say. Anyways, she has decided that she wants to move in with her boyfriends family and after convincing them that this would be a wonderful idea, she went on to accuse my dad of sexual assault and asked to be moved in with that family. I guess she figured they would never let her move without good reason.

My parents were set to let her leave, but after the investigation (which of course resulted in the allegations being declared false) and meeting with her worker, the worker convinced my parents to keep her living there. My parents have agreed for the time being because the worker beliefs that the only chance this girl will finish school is if she stays in their home. Even in spite of her going out of her way to try and hurt them, she has lived with us for more than 5 years, so they do love her as much as they do their own children. My parents always have a hard time with getting attached to them because unfortunately things like this happen all the time when they want to leave, and it really hurts.

They've decided to give her one last chance, they don't really want to make her leave, but they are worried about the way her attitude is affecting the other girls. It really seems to be a lose lose situation right now.

I'm sorry she is putting your family through this. I think it is just a stage and later on she will see the error of her ways and ask you all to forgive her. Nothing, apart from God, is more important than family and hopefully she doesn't find that out when it's too late. I'm praying. :prayer:

The CAS actually sent her to a special group home for at least part of the summer for that very reason. They decided that she could really use some counseling and while she is there, they are also working on getting her a summer job and getting her a driver's license. They are hoping she will come back having dealt with some of her issues and having learned some responsibility.

Good to know. I will pray specifically about this.
