Hi guys,
If y'all could, please pray that this Sunday will turn into a good way for my 'rents to be introduced to Orthodoxy. I have tried everything I can think of to get them to understand the Orthodox faith, but so far, no dice. I mentioned in the Taverna that my mom has a loooong way to go as far as understanding the place of women in the Church.
Well, tomorrow we're stopping by the Greek Festival to take an hour-long tour of their church (they think it's because I want to see the icons so badly, which is absolutely true, they just don't know that I have an ulterior motive alongside that!), and I'm hoping that afterwards my parents will want to stay for the lecture on Orthodoxy. It doesn't matter to me whether they ever convert or not, as long as they learn to understand why it's important to me. That is the most I can hope for. Please pray that somehow this will teach them something and that they will perhaps realize that the Orthodox Church isn't misogynistic at all.
On the other hand, my mom has been acting a little strange for the past day. She went shopping this morning and brought me back a cross necklace and a candle that says "God bless this house". Now, normally, my mom avoids Christian anything like it's going to give her the Plague. And this stuff looked like it was straight outta Zondervan's!!
Maybe she's starting to accept the fact that I am a Christian?
(Or maybe she realized that all my close friends are PKs and she doesn't want to look like a heathen, LOL)
Thanks,
matronushka
