I know that there is a specific thread for prayers, but frankly I would feel better knowing that faithful people are praying for me. I have a general pray thread out there, but there is no telling what kind of background or belief that well intentioned people have.

My prayer request is this.

I have been unable to find work in over two years. My wife refused to leave our area to try to find work until we "didn't have a choice." I tried explaining to her last spring that was now (or back then).

Now it is too late.

I had been using credit cards to pay off credit cards, along with most of the basic living expenses. We tried getting monetary asst, but as my wife has a part time job, we qualified for about $20 a month. Tho, at least we get sufficient help in food stamps, so there is no worry about starving.

But last month we finally reached the limits on all our cards and had to default on the payments and the creditors have begun to call.

I had every intention of paying everything back, with the magical "when I could find employment." God in His wisdom has chosen to not allow me a job.

After talking with my pastor, I feel as I have no choice but to declare bankruptcy. I have an appointment on monday to discuss it with an attorney. I am afraid, ashamed and angry that I have to do this, but there is no other choice... except the lottery LOL

I just need you guys to pray for us? That God lead us through this. I trust in Him. I know that He doesn't always, or rarely, chooses an easy path for us, but I do want to walk whichever way He leads me. Even in this.

Thank you.

My prayers are with you. We went through something very similar when we had been married about seven years. It was heart-wrenching, but the bankruptcy got us started again... and that's what we needed. We've been MUCH more careful about credit since then (took me almost six years to get up the courage to get another credit card again).

Keep us posted on what happens.

My parents went through it a few years ago. The one they filed under, they were able to keep their house. They don't have the credit run up like they use to now.

I don't know what chapter we are eligible to file under. I hope it is 7, because the amount we have owed mostly just from interest and fees, we would never be able to work off if it is merely restructured. I don't even know the exact amount sadly.

We don't have anything that they can take except the car and my life insurance policy. I hope they leave those two things intact tho... everything else is run down, second hand (well the car is as well lol) or just old. As we live in an apt, I don't have to worry about a house.

You have my prayers, BakaFidelis. God will see you through, I am confident of that. I know that I sometimes wonder - God, just what are you planning for me now? when things aren't going well.... and I sinfully wonder just how much more God thinks I need to learn. Then I look back on my life and see the clear path God has taken me on so far. Of course not all paths are so clear, and we may not know till we get to heaven, why some things happened the way they did.

I can see by your posts that you have a very strong faith, in spite of (or perhaps because of) everything you have been through. I wish I knew of any job openings in your area - but unfortunately, since I am in Iowa, I don't have any info on that. Shoot - I couldn't even find my own stepdaughter a job - but that's another story...

Sorry for the rambling on, but just know many people are praying for you.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. They are comfort!

Radman, I live in the city of Saginaw, Michigan.

I'm still trying to contact them but they seem to be gone this weekend. I'll keep you posted in a PM. They are in 920 area code, NE WI..................

While I was typing this I got a call from them and they will be in touch with you. Probably not until the first of the week. Sounds promising to me.

Thank you everyone for your continued prayers!!

Radman, Thank you for your contact. I will definitely watch for him to contact me. My only reserve is that if it is in Wisconsin and I do take the job, I will be moving alone. My wife has made it pretty clear that she is going to stay here should I decide to look for a job elsewhere... That has been part of the problem in finding something. Something more to pray on heh :)

I filed for bankruptcy right after my divorce. I had to. I was a single parent and the deadbeat ex had left me with over $20,000 of debt.

It is a bit of stigma at first. I was a renter, so I whenever I moved I had to constantly explain why bankruptcy at 23 years old. But as time went on, less people were asking about it.

IIRC, chapter 7 allows you to keep some of your debt...I reaffirmed with a furniture company because I needed to have furniture. I think it can work that way with a house, too, but I'm not sure.

It sounds as though you and your wife need some counseling as well. She has to understand that you are the patriarch and if you have to move to support the family, well, she's part of that family. She really needs to be beside you in this, not against you.

I'll be praying for you. God has great plans for you, no doubt about that.

 :prayer:

Praying for you, Will. God has ways we simply cannot fathom, but He is taking care of you. You know that.

Many financially successful people go broke before making significant money and most of the ones I know are actually able to see the benefit it provided them on a level they needed at the time, but were unaware.

We all have our challenges. Some are simply more obvious to the outside world than others and I'm sorry your family is having to go through such stress. :(
