Prayer request

I know some of you on here have prayed for me before about my anxiety situation. Well now I have another request. I hate to sound needy and whiny by starting my own thread asking for prayer but I'm very concerned about my husband's job. Work is very slow right now and they're cutting his hours for the third time. It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it because we're already losing $400/month due to the last hourly decrease and I can't imagine how much more we're going to lose. There's many more things going on with us financially that I won't mention right now but I could really use some prayer.

I have to go now but anyone else that has any prayer requests can feel free to add them here, too.

I'm so sorry, Epoh. This is definately a scary time. I will pray for you and your husband. Just give it to God. Let God take over your finances. I know I'm not much help, but God is. I'm praying for you.

I'll pray for you and your husband. (Intercessory prayer is kind of my thing. ) I'm glad you felt you could turn to us with this concern. Don't ever worry about coming across as "needy" or "whiny". I don't think anyone would think such things about you. We all have needs from time to time and I think it's great if we can support and pray for one another!

And since Orchard said I don't sound needy and whiny I have another request. I currently work full time but can not move up at all in the company so have been stuck at my current low pay for awhile now and am bored to tears on a daily basis. There's a job that I could really excel at and really want but since I have no experience I would be starting at the very bottom, which means less pay than I make now (but with the possibility within a couple of years to make 3 times what I make now because of my Master's degree). I'm meeting with the head honcho tomorrow and I really need a miracle. If it's God's will that I take this job I need the job offered to me AND I need more money or some sign from God to take the job. You guys have no idea what a struggle the past 3-4 years have been at my current job and I desperately need to move on, which is tough for me as I crave stability, control, and familiarity.

I could go on and on but I'll stop there. You don't even need to pray that specifically for me. Anyone reading this post just ask God to bring a miracle for Epoh99 and Mr. Epoh99.

I like the idea of having a Prayer Request thread here. We all need prayer, and that's a great way to support each other, by posting our requests and needs here.

Epoh, this might help you, and maybe others too... my husband and I visited a different church this Sunday, and we really enjoyed it. The timing of the message could not have been more perfect: "Stop Worrying" based on Phil 4:4-7. My husband and I have been stressing immensely because of the job changes he is facing, he's looking for a job across the country, we have to sell our home on the east coast, find something we can afford on the west coast, etc. It's been so worrisome! And then we're hit in the face with this fantastic message on Sunday. Wow, talk about God shouting in our ear.

I'm going to post the link to the online sermon for anyone who wants to listen to it. I thought it was very powerful, full of scriptural support throughout the Bible, not just from Philippians, and maybe it will help those going through anxious times right now too.

Wow, that is one sermon I really needed right now. I'm going to email the link to some people I know that also struggle. Just his prayer alone at the beginning touched me. I also liked his definition of worry about it being fear of the outcome of something we want (that is a very loose quote of what he said). I highly recommend people listen to this sermon. Thanks Snooch!

Edited to add: You guys will not believe this but I have one big miracle and one small miracle to report. Oh, and one new prayer request.

SMALL MIRACLE is that my husband actually talked to his boss about his pay and hours being cut. My husband is so quiet and reserved that he tends to suffer in silence. For him to actually aproach and be upfront with his boss is amazing and I've let him know that I am very proud of him.

BIG MIRACLE occurred when I went to the second interview with that job where they said I'd have to start at the bottom because I have no experience. I get there and the manager said they were so impressed with me that they wanted me to take a test to see if I could qualify for a higher up position! I was honestly not shocked because I knew people were praying for a miracle for me and all I could was, God, you are sooo good. I was not nervous or anything and said sure, I'd take the test. Several people warned me on my way to the test that most people fail and for me not to feel bad if I did. I zipped through the test and passed with flying colors!!! Although they haven't offered me the job yet they had me shadow some employees already today and want me to come back for two more days to observe. All of this is totally unexpected and moving quickly but I feel peace about the whole thing.

NEW PRAYER REQUEST: I have been at my current job for almost 9 years. We are all like family and although I hate my actual job, it is going to break my heart to leave these people I love. I hate crying or being emotional in front of people but should I be offered this job and quit it is going to be very difficult for me. Please pray that I can handle the changes and not completely lose it. Thanks!

Epoh99, I'm praising God for these answered prayers! Please let us know if there are any new developments!

May I make my own prayer request? It's about a job situation too. When we moved here in the fall, we were led to believe that my husband's current temporary position would likely lead to a permanent position. But we now know that's not going to happen. It's nobody's fault, just an unfortunate set of circumstances. There's a budget shortfall, and jobs are being cut, and certainly no new positions are being created.

This means we will not be staying here in this city. We will have to go to wherever my husband can find a permanent job. I was hoping that when we moved here, we would finally be able to settle, but unfortunately, we will have to move on again.

Please pray that my husband will find a good job (a permanent faculty position at a university) in a place where we'll both be happy living.

My husband is pretty easy-going and takes things like this in stride. He's always known that the nature of his career would likely mean moving around a bit at first, until he gets a permanent position, so it's not a huge shock. It's just that we were hoping this was it, and we could settle here. But, c'est la vie.

It's not that we're horrified at the thought of moving again (my family moved a lot when I was a kid, so I'm used to it, and rather enjoy getting to know new places), we would just like to have something lined up so we know where we're going. We don't like the uncertainty of not knowing where we'll be next year. And we hope we'll end up somewhere good! My husband doesn't have the kind of career where he can pick and choose, so he has to pretty much take what he can get. So who knows where we'll end up. I just can't handle big city life, so I hope and pray we don't end up in Toronto or Montreal or somewhere like that.

Will keep your unspoken in prayer. That's another reason God is so awesome... He knows what the people we're praying for need even when we don't.

No news here yet. My husband's waiting to hear back about a job he applied for. The deadline for applications was Friday, so hopefully we'll hear something soon.
