Some of you may or may not remember that a few months ago (back in October... seems not so long ago) I asked for prayers for my grandpa who had cancer. For what has been almost 15 years and running, my grandpa has battled bladder cancer. They've tried everything, radiation, chemo and even BCG treatment (the old pertussis vaccine injected into the bladder... long story) but it'd near the 5 year mark and it'd show up again. At any rate, this last time around, they opened him up (cause there was a blockage) and would up having to remove part of his bladder, one of his kidneys that had gone fibrotic and part of his lung (where the fibrotic kidney had attached itself to). He underwent a full chemo treatment and six weeks of radiation treatment. He had had a clean bill of health.
Last week at his usual checkup, they did a CAT scan. My grandpa had been complaining of sciatica but it turns out that it's another tumor. The problem is is that this time, it's invaded the bone. They said it's treatable and they're going to do radiation but bone cancer does not usually have a very good prognosis. The fact that it has hampered his walking seems to indicate the tumor must be fairly well-sized and the fact that it survived the earlier chemo treatments doesn't sound too good. All we can do is trust the doctors and pray that my grandpa can deal (I think more spiritually and emotionally) with another diagnosis of cancer.
If you guys could please remember my grandpa in your prayers (his name is Dominic), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
