Hi there,

I am in the process of bending my will to christs. This is not the most easy task. I have only recently returned to god, and sometimes I fear what God has in store for me. I feel as though I'm called to be in ministry as a witness for christ. This call has led me to wanting to enrol in Providence bible college. My tentative plan right now is to leave my job at the beginning of next summer to volunteer at a christian camp for the summer. More likely doing maintenance or kitchen work, as I would not want to be directly involved in forming the kids views of God. I still have many kinks to work out. I plan to stay there until a week or so before school starts. at school, as it is a rural college I will be living in residence, and sooooo very much look forward to all the wonderful christ centered people I will meet. I guess I don't really know where I'm going with this I just wanted to send out a request for your prayers. I ask that you would pray for God to open my eyes and reveal his will to me. If you have any advice or stories or anything I would much appreciate those too. Tnx. :)

I need to get to bed but I just wanted to post real quick....

First, great to hear you recently came to faith and that you're seeking God's will so single-mindedly.

Your plans sound great..... just remember, being a Christian doesn't mean you only do "Christian things". God is big, and He is everywhere, be sure you're not leaving a place he wants you to be, and is using you in. You don't have to be in Ministry to be in ministry ;-) The main thing is how you relate to God, and other people...

Brother, I sympathise with you 100% in being afraid of what Christ has in store for us individually. It sometimes got to the point where I wouldn't even allow myself to get too close to Christ. There were a lot of desires (not sinful, just things I wanted to do) that I wanted to accomplish, even things that I wanted to do for Him, and I thought that if I got too close, then He would tell me "That's not what you're supposed to do" and I'd be crushed. As you can see, I've been going through what you are as well, and on my way back from English class today, I realised that if you're wondering about your calling, the worst thing you can do to hinder finding it/confirming it is dwell upon it. From the summer of 2002 until today, I've been wondering, worrying, trying to figure out what I could do, asking people for advice, etc. and all that I've been doing is just worrying myself (which is something we're not supposed to do anyway). I came to a conclusion that you're not supposed to find your calling; your calling is supposed to find you. What someone told me (and I hope that it's the case) is that if you're called to do something, then it will be your desire; you know, something that excites you, something that'll make you say "yeah, let's go!!" or something that will give you an inner peace. I think it's just like finding your job. You don't want to look for "oh what can I do, he/she's doing this/that, so I should do it too!" if you want to find a job where you won't have to work. You'll want it to find you. Something that you're so passionate about that you say "that's what I want to do". If Gerry sees this, I hope he can shed some light on it, and add some insight, but that's my opinion.

Praying for you bug! I have experienced some of what you describe. I guess at the time, I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to do what God might want me to do. But now I know that if something was from God, he would give me the strength and the courage to do it. Just keep seeking him, bug, and he will open the doors for you in the direction he has for you to go.

Father, I lift up this servant as they seek to do Your will.  Minister to this heart, that it may hear Your call.  I pray that this church camp experience will be enlightening for Your child.  Grant them the boldeness to accept Your will for their life, and proudly proclaim the Gospel of the Lamb.  In Jesus name ... Amen!

I deeply thank you all for your prayers and your sympathy. God has just made known to me that so long as I do not deny him he will show me the path. "Lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight". A most powerfull and promising verse!

I am so excited with what christ has in store for all of us right now that I can hardly contain myself! You all have been a blessing to me and have helped me in a time of need (thanx be to God) and I only pray that God will use me in the same fashion in your hour of need.

In Christ,

bUg
