  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you keep a prayer journal?

Some write down what they pray to God. I do a little differently.

I usually only write in it when God is speaking back to me. So, I don't have entries for every day.

But, when I go back and read it, I can see the pattern of what God is speaking to me, in any given season.

It's been helpful, because I find that I forget more than I think I do, so the journal is there to remind me of what God has been saying to me.

What are your experiences?

I write to God...I used to think it didn't make sense but it is very significant for me as I can express deep things. It's comforting.

I haven't tried it the other way I think.

I have had times when a Scripture has been placed on my heart and I'll write it down and illustate it or write an exprience or something uplifting or glorifying God for who He is. I thank GOd that He has given me that kind of talent that I can put colours and shapes and pictures to His word in a way that speaks volumes to me.

I think that's an intimate thing between me and God. I suppose that is Him speaking to me.

I also write to God...

but I write what He says as well, as fast as I hear it.

I mark the margin with an ---------> so that I can tell what part is God v. me.

I agree! If you write it down immediately it helps prevent memory loss of what He said. It also brings to remembrance things I had put aside.... and comfort in hard times.

I have several boxes full of journals from over the years!

I think this is a great idea - i do a journal of all my thoughts & included in this is anything i feel that God is saying plus prayers to Him, although it can be anything at all and i keep it away from prying eyes!

It's amazing when you go back and read past entries and realize how much God talks to us, and we soon forget what He said.

Often, I have to say.....'Oops, I better get back to doing what God told me to do'.

When I woke up this morning He told me two things to focus on, so after I post this, I need to go and record both in my journal and date them.
