• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

If God didnt answer prayers while you are in sin, all would remain sinners and none would be saved.....

"The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."

God doesn't answer prayers when you're in sin, but what if you're stuck in a situation that causes you to sin and you don't want to sin and you can't get out of of the situation?

How can you get help?

Truly confess (for real) directly to God, with sincere heart --

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

After you have truly confessed, taking as long as needed...
Then pray for help to be changed so that you are less tempted by the sin.

Also, crucially, begin to each day pray the prayer Christ gave you, me, all believers, so that we would pray this perfect prayer for aid we so need. The prayer in Matthew chapter 6, verses 5-15.

He is just and faithful to forgive!

I have difficulty imagining a situation where you're stuck in a situation that causes you to sin.

Recovery Related Spiritual Advice

This sub-forum is for members who are struggling with a recovery issue and dealing with spiritual struggles because of or related to it. This is a moderated forum, where all posts must be approved before becoming live. There is no debate allowed in this forum, and no spiritual warfare posts or links allowed. OPs that are not asking for advice will be removed. Posts that are asking if God still loves me or if this is a sin need to be posted in Ask a Chaplain.

Christians and non-Christians may start threads asking questions of advice, only 1 OP per thread may ask questions but only Orthodox Christians may reply. If another member wishes to ask questions relating to or on a different topic about themselves and spiritual & recovery issues, must start a new OP.

Please review the recovery guidelines and site wide rules before posting in this forum.

Posts that deal with issues of sexuality and wanting to overcome sexual issues will be moved to the Struggles with Sexuality Forum. Posts that are not seeking advice, will be removed or moved if possible to a more appropriate area.

This forum provides support as well as encouragement from others going through similar issues or who have possibly been successful at making those changes.

OFF Topic Posts/Threads

Preaching or theological teaching or debating as this part of the forum is not for theological discussions, but for support and spiritual encouragement.

No self-promotion of books, recordings, YouTube videos or websites/blogs to gain advertising.

Posts that are not supportive of the Original Poster’s question of advice will be removed.

Discouragement of medications and medical treatment will be removed and staff actions will be issued due to the severity of risk related to diagnosing someone and giving treatment advice from professionals or non-professionals online.

Any posts dealing with spiritual warfare will be removed. Insinuating that members are possessed or that their health issues are caused by demons or due to sin is not permitted. This includes the devil is the whole problem. Linking to sites offline that address spiritual warfare are not permitted as well. Posts that balance out the the fact that both mental/physical health issues and spiritual issues may be at play rather than only spiritual issues are to blame, may be allowed.
