I am not sure if this is a good idea or not but I was thinking about how we are all here from different walks of life, different backgrounds, different ages, but we all have a common ground and that is we were abused in some way shape or form in our lives. We are all here because we are still coping or still dealing with the abuses of our past, present and for some the future. I believe the addition of this forum was an excellent idea by Erwin and I am so thankful that it has been created because I have been looking for a group of people to lean on in times of my pain and suffering. This forum was created for you, me and those around us to congregate and celebrate the Lord but at the same time cope and try to put the abuses of our lives behind us and look to a bigger and brighter future for each and everyone of us.
Now I am not sure about everyone else, but I try to look on the bright side of my abuse to try and get past the pain and to see what good has come out of it, and that might be very difficult for some of us. But I am proposing to each and everyone of you today, tonight or whenever you are reading this to create a prayer group in this forum. One thing we all need right now is the power of God's healing and the power of his love and compassion. As we have been taught many times through church, Bible studies, our spiritual leaders, etc. prayer is the most powerful tool. Through each of us praying for each other we can have the support of people who can relate to us as well as the mighty power of prayer.
We can make this into a prayer type situation where we pray for the person above us, similar to the way we play some games in the fellowship threads in the relaxation area. For example, I post this message and the next person to post the next message will pray for me. The person that posts next will pray for that person and so on down the line, and we can make it a continuum to where we are praying for each other. And people who haven't been abused but are here to lend support can join in too, no one will be turned away, everyone is welcome!
What do you guys think about that?
Also, I thought of a way to encourage and help each other's walk in faith we could have a weekly or monthly Bible study where a thread is opened up and we talk about certain scripture or something and ask questions, and just talk about the Bible and how we can incorporate the scripture into our lives to get over the pain of our abuse, and to think more highly of ourselves. I think this could be a great therapeutic tool to help in our recovery. The study doesn't need to be formal, we don't meet at a certain time, it is just when we log on, we can check it if we want, see the responses from other people... respond with what we want to say... the study can be active for however long, and then after a week, a biweek, a triweek, a month or whatever we choose we could add new scripture and begin to discuss that. People can join in at anytime and people can drop out at anytime. Anyone can be welcomed into this as well...
What do you guys think about this? If you like the idea plese fill out the poll above.
