CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Mr. Flipper got a call this morning asking if he would be willing to work tonight. His week on doesn't start until tomorrow night.
Last night (rather earlier this morning) at about 3:00 a.m., a guy came in and pulled a gun on the other midnight pharmacist demanding oxycontin. She gave it all to him and he left. She's shaken up so she's taking tonight off, understandably.
I'm not worried about him working tonight - all the oxycontin is gone. Please say a prayer for all the other midnight pharmacists out there. Apparently this has happened at least once before, and Mr. Flipper thinks probably more than that. The cops are keeping it out of the news fearing copycats.

In addition to everything stated before, now our hard drive has crashed. I'm on a public library computer right now.
The cheap repair ( assuming it works ) is going to cost $226-. If this doesn't work ... I'd rather not think about it.

Well, my father has provided the means for a new computer, so Nyssa and I are back online. The other concerns remain very immediate.
8/25/09: The tower is back online. The motherboard may need replacing in the near ... or far ... future. It's hard to tell.

A word of thanksgiving: I had some best-laid plans, and they appeared to have worked to the blessing of myself and others - in some ways better than if there were no troubles at all.
I am far away from happy, but I'm a little closer today than I was two days ago.

Update: I am now a little further from happiness. My current job ends on 9/25/09, and I have no prospects.

I continue to pray for all here...
Last night the daughter of a very close friend called me and told me that her father is gravely ill with cancer. He had been feeling unwell since a car accident before Christmas and the symptoms have been gradually getting worse. A few days ago a mutual friend who is a MD pulled a few strings and got him in for an emergency MRI. They found 5 tumors in his brain. Yesterday he started the first of 5 days of radiation treatment which will be followed by chemo.
We met over 10 years ago when our children were young. We all meshed and my daughter and his eldest daughter are very close also. We sailed together, drank together, helped teach each others kids to sail, had an annual Schuttzen Feste, and always kept in touch.
His family is taking this very hard. Please pray for grace, peace and comfort for them.
His name is Simon, his wife of many years is Moira, and Their daughters are Cara and Alex.

Asking for renewed prayers...
Simon has taken a turn for the worst, and is again in ICU, but they can not stabilize him. It appears to be a matter of hours or maybe a couple of days.
Please pray for comfort and consolation for his family and friends, and a blessed death for Simon.

I'll try to call you tomorrow night. We made our decisions. I know we did the right thing, but I've had some "triggers" the last couple weeks that make me all depressed over it, including earlier today. I had a pity party on Facebook, and it's all better now.
I think I'm just in the "crabby" phase of the paper pregnancy.

Prayers please for my daughter Nicole and her friend Renee who were hit by a car yesterday afternoon as they ran cross country practice. It was a scavenger hunt and the lady who hit them didn't stop but people tracked her down and forced her to eventually pull over. God has spared their lives, but they're both injured and in great amounts of pain. Thanks be to God who did not take away our babies.

Oh, Lambi! You poor dears. 
What a horrible phone call that must have been and how terrified must your baby have been. I can't even imagine.
Praise God they're OK and that the driver was caught. Prayers for a complete recovery and minimal suffering in the meantime.
