CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know this isn't as great a need as some of the others here, but could you please pray for my mother-in-law. As most of you know, my husband grew up in the UMC and he converted to LCMS after we got engaged.
The UMC church the rest of his family go to has been having nothing but problems for years. My Sister-In-Law had finally had enough and started going to the LCMS church out there who has welcomed her with open arms - before she even started going, they organized a benefit for my nephew to get a communicator - she didn't ask them, they approacheded her. I've never been to a service there, but I've met many of the members, and they are just good Christian people who know Jesus. My MIL keeps saying she was born at her church and will die at her church. I can't help but think of what filo said a couple weeks ago when he was here, in that if you say that, you will most certainly die.
Please pray that we can get her out of that horrible environment, not to mention scripturally unsound environment - the current pasor will let my then 2 year old nephew take communion, for example (I know they don't believe in real presence and that it's symbolic, but it's still weird and didn't used to be like that) - that's just a tiny piece of what's going on over there. You don't want to hear of all the drama of all the elders being pushed out after they questioned some shady financial stuff they saw the pastor do.

Good news for my mother. She met with the oncologist yesterday. He gave her a thorough check, went through all the surgery details, checked all tests, and has concluded that she does not need radiation at all!!!!
We praise God for his work in all this. Thanks for your prayers.

My cousin K, did not get such a good prognosis. While I was in St Louis, she found out she had breast cancer, and had both breasts removed, at the age of 43. She is at the Mayo Clinic in MN for her first chemo today. Her husband has not visited or called her....they live in another state. She is staying with her dad. Her mom died of breast cancer at age 47. She never had any children.
K was one of my bridesmaids in my wedding. She has always been full of fun. She is in a tough situation right now. Prayers would be appreciated. thanks

Catching up on prayers here for everyone. I read this thread all the time, but I don't always post. I'm kinda the silent type, but I love you all and share your concerns that you bring here and am happy to offer prayers for you all.
I would like to add a prayer request for my wife. She has shingles in her eye and it isn't going so well. Her doctor isn't real sure if she will have her sight restored or lose it completely.

I have more of an update now. His "blood infection" was actually sepsis, but he got through that. He finally had surgery to put his scrotum back together (sorry that's gross, but hay bailers don't discriminate parts of the body), and fix other things, and he finally has a trach - was intubated way longer than he should have been. Every time they would get ready for surgery, his BP would drop dangerously low. The family had to get the hospital administration involved before a doctor would finally tell them what was going on. All their information came from nurses before that.
They are slowly waking him up now. If he continues to improve, he'll be out of the ICU and into a regular room the end of next week.
It really is a miracle he's alive, and could recover as well.

Hope and I could probably use some prayer support. Due to internal issues that I'd rather not post here, it would seem our church is on the verge of splitting. Bear in mind that this church already has a small congregation and already sits on the brink of going under. While I would ask for prayer that somehow a split could be averted, I think it unlikely. Rather, I would ask for prayer for Hope, Jeremiah, and I as we try to assess our situation and determine where God is leading us in this and to what church to attend. Thank you.
