  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just spoke with my mother; she has a biopsy next Tuesday to determine if is cancerous - and they have just diagnosed her with Parkinson's; she found out this on the same day.

She definitely needs prayer for the dealing with both issues.

The lump is cancerous. They will remove it next Tuesday, also checking the lymph nodes to ensure that it has not spread. On the 26th she begins 6 weeks of daily radiation treatments.

She was given medicine to begin slowing down the effects of Parkinson, but she has decided to wait until after the radiation treatments.

So sorry to hear of this, filo. The Lord will give her strength and faith to handle this. :prayer:

2 Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-
3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

(Psalm 103:2-5)

Amen.

I came into work this morning to this:

G’s father was involved in a farm accident yesterday evening involving a hay bailer and was transported out of the field via helicopter to SLU hospital. He is in serious to grave condition this morning. I will update you as I hear from G.

I just got this update:

G describes her father as being 70, a lifelong farmer and one of the most cautious men she knows. He knows how dangerous farming can be. He was bailing hay yesterday afternoon, got off the tractor – the tractor apparently jumped out of gear and ran over him, the bailer was still running and the bailer ran over him as well.

He has multiple internal bleeding and a large laceration in the abdomen area. He was in surgery for 3 hours last night and they stopped the surgery because he was losing so much blood and they could not get it stopped.

There has been no change since about 2:25 this morning – he is still in serious to grave condition.

G is naturally upset. I’m sure she would appreciate you keeping her in your thoughts.

They could probably use all the prayers they can get right now.

Bwlow is an update from my office manager as of yesterday evening. I really was expecting to come this morning to find out he passed away. Continued prayers that he can fully recover if it's in God's will.

I talked with G on Saturday and there wasn’t much change – when I spoke with her today mid-day she said there was some improvement. They did a CT Scan on Saturday and got the results back and although her dad is still in serious condition, things are looking a bit better.

Lord, we lift up to you G and her father. According to your mercy grant healing to his body. Sustain all of them with your peace, trusting you in all circumstances. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forevermore. Amen

Thank you everyone. We were told yesterday that if he continued to be stable, G would be back at work today, but I haven't seen her. Also don't have any update for today.

Adam was telling me that he knew someone at his hometown that got caught up on the wrong end of a hay bailer. He ended up losing an arm.

I was mistaken, G is here today and I just talked to her. Her dad has received 22 units of blood so far. He seems to be improving and they are slowly taking him out of his induced coma. The real pain will then start because on top of it all, he has 11 broken ribs.

I don't know enough about hay bailers to completely understand what happened, but G is putting it that it was a miracle that the bailer did not completely tear him to shreds.
