  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm scheduled to have an abdominal hysterectomy a week from Monday. I would appreciate your prayers, both for the surgery, and for me to not to have doubts about my decision to do this. There are good reasons for me to do it, but the decision is complicated by the fact that my husband and I have never been able to have children, and even though I'm 43, we would still still have welcomed children even now.

I also need God's grace to get through the next week. I'll be out of commission for up to 6 weeks, and there is a LOT to do at my work to get ready. I also have commitments at church in the upcoming week that will keep me busy. And yesterday, I came down with food poisoning or something, so I had to rest for the day, and didn't get anything done.

I know that God is watching out for me in all this. I'm so thankful that He takes such good care of us. Actually, getting food poisoning yesterday helped me slow down and just trust that He would give me the grace to get all this done. I had been kind of running in a frenzy prior to that.

Any prayers you would consider offering for me would be much appreciated.

Lord, in Your mercy look with favor upon joyfulthanks as she faces surgery this coming week. In the midst of the flurry of activity before then, may you provide peace, patience, and trust that you indeed are in control. We pray for her and her husband - bless them with the love that can only come from you. Grant the doctors and nurses the right use of their skills to accomplish this work. Bring her speedy recovery. Help both wife and husband to accept your work in their lives. May you use them mightily in your kingdom.

Through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen

I had this surgery at 42. It's tough, but you will get through it. May God watch over you. :prayer:

Continue praying.

Are you getting used to the new place? :)

Ed
Thanks for your prayers...things have calmed down a little with my pain.

We had a big setback yesterday, concerning all that has gone on for us. This whole thing is very scary. I am somewhat getting used to living in MI, but I miss everyone so much back in WI. Some days are very hard. Thanks for asking.

I continue to pray for all here...:prayer::prayer::crossrc::crossrc::prayer::prayer:

Last night the daughter of a very close friend called me and told me that her father is gravely ill with cancer. He had been feeling unwell since a car accident before Christmas and the symptoms have been gradually getting worse. A few days ago a mutual friend who is a MD pulled a few strings and got him in for an emergency MRI. They found 5 tumors in his brain. Yesterday he started the first of 5 days of radiation treatment which will be followed by chemo.

We met over 10 years ago when our children were young. We all meshed and my daughter and his eldest daughter are very close also. We sailed together, drank together, helped teach each others kids to sail, had an annual Schuttzen Feste, and always kept in touch.

His family is taking this very hard. Please pray for grace, peace and comfort for them.

His name is Simon, his wife of many years is Moira, and Their daughters are Cara and Alex.

Thanks,

Mark

Yesterday afternoon, my husband, Tiger, and my husband's parents were involved in an accident about 50 miles from our home. Someone pulled out in front of them. My family members are going to be ok in a couple days, but the lady in the other van was hurt much worse than originally thought. Both vans were totalled. Praise God for seatbelts and airbags. It could have been much worse. Grandma and Grandpa are staying with us for a couple days until they feel a little better. Tiger is fine and is being very protective of Grandma, who is very sore. Prayers for the lady in the other van, that she might heal quickly, and for the continued recovery of my family.

Continued prayers for Mark's friend, Seajoy & her fibro, and for all my friends here at TCL. God knows your needs.

Only a couple of more days until the surgery (abdominal hysteretomy). I'm very tired. I praise God, though, for getting me through this grueling and emotional week at work, with church activities, and with preparation for surgery. Thank you to those of you who have prayed for me. I have been surrounded by overwhelming love and support from friends and family. I thank the Lord for that, and that all the preparations needed to be out of commission for several weeks are just about complete (by His grace).

My recovery period is supposed to be 3-6 weeks, so if you care to remember me in your prayers for awhile yet it would be much appreciated.

Plan for the full 6 weeks to take care of yourself. Recovery takes time with this one...I've been there. I couldn't go back to work for 6 1/2 weeks.
Glad you have such good support around you. My hubby was fantastic! It helps so much.

Update: my husband went to the doctor today and learned he has a broken rib. Sounds like it's cracked. Doctor said he'll be ok in 2-3 weeks. Grandma and Grandpa went home yesterday. My husband's sister is staying with them a few days. Tiger escaped with a seat belt burn that will be gone in another day or two. I am so thankful it wasn't worse.

Joyfulthanks, prayers for a speedy recovery. Don't try to rush yourself. Relax and be lazy until your body tells you it's time to go back to regular activities.
