Prayer for young moms....

Hi friends,

I have been facilitating a young teen mother's group in the inner-city for two years.  This is going on the third, so I've seen alot of the babies go through their different developmental stages and the moms grow in their skills as parents.  The past 3-4 months have been incredibly challenging as there have been so many issues that these moms have been facing.  A couple of them have gotten pregnant again. Two of which I never expected it to happen again and one who decided to abort her pregnancy two weeks ago.  I was heart broken.  Another young mom last monday broke the news to me that she is 5 months pregnant - she has a 3 year old daughter - this mom is 19 years old.  I am so discouraged and I know that this group is under attack spiritually.  I honestly feel like I'm out of my element with this group and have been seriously praying that God will bring someone in who also has a heart for working with young moms. Please pray for this group, especially for the mom who had the abortion and the other mom who is five months pregnant.  Please pray for me also as i minister to these young women.  Pray that I will have the strength to speak in truth to them, but that I will do so in love.

Praying for you and the group, S&C. Sounds like a tough situation. But I believe God put you there because of your caring heart. You may never know the influence you will have on these girls on down the road!

I had my son when I was 16, and without the support from the Teen Mother's Program I went to, I don't think I would be where I am today!!! My son is almost 17, and although we are going through a difficult time (he is currently sitting in juvenile hall... AGAIN!!!), everyday, I reflect on how far I've come, and the words and support from my Teachers and Counselors at the program run through my head and I hear "you can do it!!!".

My advice to you is to know that you are doing the best you can, even if it might not seem like it right now, you are helping these girls prepare for the rest of their lives with those children... they will remember the love and support you gave them, when they feel all alone, they will remember that someone had faith in them!!!

I will keep all of them in my prayers, and you too... I will also pray that God will send to you that person who wants to minister with you.

Thank you for everything you are doing for those girls and babies!!!

hi guys!

thanks so much for your encouraging response!  i do feel out of my element with this particular group at times because i'm not a mother - heck, i'm still single!  but the lord has given me a heart for these beautiful moms.  they really do trust me - a trust that has been built over the last two years.  please continue to pray for them and their children.  thank you!!
