Hi,
I recently received a call from a staffing agency about a possible job position. They asked for three managerial job references, which, in order to get, I had to call two of these people up to see if I could use them.
I'm hoping that this worked out, I did feel like I said something that could've been either offensive or off-putting with the two that I talked to. For one, she was an old friend that I hadn't talked to in a long time. I am a little afraid that I might've said something offensive but I'm hoping that she didn't take it that way or that she'll understand. And, with the other, the manager there didn't remember me at all, but when I mentioned that hopefully that he had only good things to say about me, it might've made him suspicious. He said, "Well, it can't be too bad, if I don't remember you," which can be a good thing if he doesn't try to look up some sort of record that they might have of me.
To be honest, from both of these jobs, which were only part-time jobs, I had gotten fired from. I'm hoping that God will prevent them from saying this or saying anything bad about me. I want to say that the reason for being let go from these jobs was because they were in conflict with school, but I don't want them to say that I ended up getting fired from these part time jobs.
This also comes after a period of time in which I had been sinning against God. But, I'm hoping that God understands and helps me to get this. I can't live with my mom and dad forever, and I'm not a bad person - at least I don't think so. I'm just unlucky and I tend to say the wrong things alot because I don't have a very good tact.
But, in spite of my social disadvantages in life, sometimes I have been very "lucky" or maybe blessed and good things came to me. This is how I managed to get the part time jobs that I have had in the past, and this is how I managed to find the friends that I did or even be able to go out on dates back when I had somewhat of a social life.
So, I'm asking people to pray that none of my references end up turning on me and that I manage to get this job. If it works out, I can relieve the financial stress that living with my parents has put on them and ease their burdens. And, if things pull through for me, then I can finally start in trying to get a life for myself again.
I know that I am not perfect and maybe not deserving of help from God, and, to be honest, my even mentioning this kind of does put the thought that this flatters God. Which, I know doesn't, especially when I think about the possibility that it might.
Anyways, I hope that people here will pray that things will work out for me, and that I get a job soon. That my references that I used today will be good references and that the only thing left to worry about is the job interview - if there is going to be one.
Please pray for me in my efforts to get a job, I know that I am not the only one who's going through this, but I am going through it and that is why I'm making this thread. And, I probably don't deserve God's help due to my sinfulness, but I hope that God will be understanding and help me get a job.
