Prayer For A Daddy

I would like prayers that I could be a better father and husband. I have been a Christian for over thirty years, but I have been struggling with my faith for a few years now. It is not that I have any horrible, over-riding sins going on, but that I just can not seem to keep a devotional life going. When I do devotions, it feels dead. Sometimes I even have trouble singing the hymns in church. I also feel there is a lot of anger in me, but it is not directed at anyone or anything I can recongized. I just know that I am short tempered.

I do believe in Jesus, incarnated, crucified, dead and risen. I have asked forgiveness for my sins and asked him to rule in my life. I am a Christian. I just can't seem to let go of this directionless frustration and anger. I want to much to be a really loving and devoted father to my kids, but half the time I spend reigning in my own frustrations about being a father.

Anyway, I would really appreciate any prayer. Thank you.

I am very sorry to hear of the frustration & anger that you feel inside of you. I know it is easier said than done in situations like this, but trust in the Lord. Ask him to close any doors that have caused this anger and open only the doors that will allow you to be the best father that you can possibly be. Ask that He lift off these emotions and restore your happiness & faith once again. You are His child and He will do this for you.

Just keep in mind that He may be taking you through this for a reason. I'm not saying that He gave you these feelings, but He may be allowing you to experience them, as you well know. Just keep talking with Him & He will answer if your heart is open.

I will most definitely be in prayer for you & for your family. May the Lord bless you richly in your life and walk with you every step of every day. Thank you for caring enough about your family to ask for prayer. That says a lot!

I appreciate both of your prayers. I also took some time to find a guy at church I could have pray with me. I think I have been denying the problem for awhile now, not wanting to admit that I had gotten this way. I truely believe in the power of prayer and I am grateful that you both are praying about it.

Father God, I ask you to take this anger away from me. I don't know where it is from or how to combat it. Please release me from it. Even if I still feel it though, help me to have an awareness of your Spirit with me when I am dealing with my kids, so that I can discipline them with a loving purpose, rather than because I have grown frustrated. O.K., I am going to keep saying that prayer. To be honest, I have only been praying about this about 48 hours because of my denial. I will definetly let you all know how it goes. Thank you again for your prayers and support, especially toward a new comer here.
