  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey Everyone  ,

I attend Penn State University and I've always had a problem with roommates. In my first year, I applied for "substance free dorms". While everyone was matched with substance free roommates, I was matched with an unruley alcoholic. I witnessed to her but her crazy dorm parties started effecting my grades. She was eventually kicked out of substance free dorms when I made a written statement about her behavior. My next roommate controled my life and spred false slander about me to my friends calling me a "weird and crazy fanatic Christian". In fervently praying and seeking God I survived. This year I was put with slander spreding roommate above again! I was put on a "room switch board" with other students who you can switch rooms with. I found a girl who wanted to switch with me and the process was completed. In discovering who my roommate was, I went on facebook to send her a message equivalent to "hey new roommate". When I visited her page I discovered a group that she created that had to do with hating people, chuck full of obscene language. I know that God is in control and that He will get me through this. I just want His will to be done...can you pray for me? It looks like I'm going to have to switch again  .

Also feel free to discuss any problems you've encountered with roommates ;) .

God Bless and thank you for your prayers in advance :) .

Wow, sounds tough. I was in a situation last year where I was in class with pretty much all drugies and jocks. But I realized God had put me in that class for a reason. Eventhough it was hard on me I gained a love for these people. They need God, and who will tell them about God, if everyones to affraid to. Even if we do love on them and show them Jesus love, and you don't think its doing much, a seed is being planted. It seems like God wants to be with these kind of people, so you can show them who Jesus really is. Maybe not preach to them, but just be kind and listen to them. Because there is much more then what is on the surface. Anyways, I know it can hurt, or even bring one down spiritually. Yet, we can grow so much more through situations like this. God bless. I pray that everything works out well.

You can run, but you cannot hide...from people who are different. If their lifestyle is seriously disrupting your ability to study or something, that's one thing. If they swear a lot...well, that's the kind of people who are out there in the big bad world. Get to know them. God loves them. They can be your friends whether they convert or not. They can teach you things about life as well. I say relax, learn humility, learn to love, learn friendship, or if all else fails, learn simple courtesy and avoidance skills.;)

Wise words!

I have no advice, except sooner or later, it usually just clicks in that people who do 'bad' things are simply people, like you and me, except they may not know or believe in God.

You do not have to share in the things they do, but I hope the revelation comes that an obscene facebook profile, while it implies the person may curse, does not really count for much. I would highly recommend not viewing another persons facebook before meeting them, unless you absolutely have to use it as part of a screening procedure.

Though curiosity is often a hard thing to counter, especially on facebook ;)

Wow! Thank you soo much for your advice you guys!!! You guys are great, I loved your input! I pray that I can show her as well as others on campus the unfailing, beautiful, love of Christ. I hope to be a reflection of God's glory, to be a beacon on campus! As an update I appreciated your prayers. I was switched to a dorm where everyone shares my major so it worked out for the best and now I can study with everyone :) ! How wonderful. All good things come to those who love and fear God. I pray constantly for the lost on campus and this girl will always be in my prayers.

"Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love."
~Ephesians 6:24

God Bless :)
