O.K. ~ At least you are starting to open you mind a little...

Not everything we need to know about Christianity can be found in The Holy Scriptures... they were not designed that way.

Here are some great resources for you to listen to... they are from http://www.ourlifeinchrist.com/archives.htm

http://www.ourlifeinchrist.com/audio/mp3/saints1_012305.mp3

http://www.ourlifeinchrist.com/audio/mp3/saints2_013005.mp3

http://www.ourlifeinchrist.com/audio/mp3/saints3_020605.mp3

http://www.ourlifeinchrist.com/audio/mp3/saints4_021305.mp3

I think you will enjoy these much.... listening is so much easier that writing... at least for me.

There is no way that I can type out all that should be said on such a subject as this.

I hope you will listen to them, (All 0f them) and lets discuss what they had to say on the subject of praying to Saints.

Forgive me....

Ok, pray is a form of worship. So, if you pray to Mary, you are worshiping her, by praying. It doesn't matter what you are doing it for, you are still doing it.
In your opinion, or course. You can’t very well tell me what is in my heart. I know who I worship and who I pray to.

But if you really think this then I assume it's in the bible, show me the verse in the bible that says it.

Oh no, is that part of the purgatory thing? You know I believe in Hell and Heaven right? Anyway, mabey Abraham did know what was going on down here on earth, but how does that prove there can be communication between those in eternity, and those in this world? I don't see what the rich man and Abraham have to do with anything, they were both clearly dead, and the one that you say was praying to Abraham was in hell, so I don't really wanna do anything he was doing. lol.

Purgatory is not a place nor a thing..... it is a description of a process called Theosis.

PROOF? There is no proof of anything one way or the other.

De-fleaing my cat and Purgatory

So.... I was de-fleaing my cat this morning with a dip rinse solution....

Now the cat was afraid to be sure... even a little angry and uncertain of why I would do this to him and what this was all about...

I tried to explain that if he was going to stay in the house that the fleas had to go.:D He wasn't buying it...

In my mind of couse the cat had nothing to fear because I never let go of him while I was dunking him in the flea bath.

I knew that he would feel better after I was finished and he had a chance to dry off. He loves being clean!

....and then the process of Purgatory came to mind. It's not a place. The name is more descriptive of a process than anything else.....

In a flash I was the cat and Christ God was holding me... (just in my mind of course).

There I was, having died with some minor sins unconfessed, and the ones I had forgotten to ask forgiveness for....

Christ did not discard me but rather held to his word as always.... he dipped me one last time and let me into the house.

Don't be afraid, when Christ God is holding you.

Forgive me.... :liturgy:

I will listen to one of them, but first I am going to pray to God that I will not be indoctrinated from any of it. I am very leary of these things, I have already been indoctrinated by several different denominations that turned out to be competely against scripture, so don't be surprised if I only listen to the first one.

Plenty of verses in the bible that say not to pray to idols. Plenty of scripture saying not to even make any likeness of anyone in heaven, which you do. Do I really need to name it?

Your concept of hell is a false one. It was introduced by the medieval west. It has no basis in either scripture or tradition.

Don't worry, they stick to The Holy Scripture.

BTW ~ The Orthodox Church is not a denomination. She has existed from day one of The Church. The first one being Jerusalem.

You are suffering from a bad case of Romaphobia.....(anything that sounds like it could have been made up by Rome.)

Forgive me.....:liturgy:

The only time purgatory might happen, is when we get to heaven, the people that are going to heaven, not hell. Although I see nothing at all about it in scripture. Anyway, the rich man was in hell. Abraham was in heaven. That is all there is to that.

WHAT!? Do I really need to give you a scriptural description of hell? It is a holding cell for those that will be thrown into the lake of fire after judgement day.

The key point being that Rome did not "make up" everything.

Don't be afraid to find out the differences... and don't throw everything from Roman Catholicism out that you do not understand.

There are bad points in The Church of Rome to be certain...

You can ask any Roman Catholic here.... I am none to fond of The Church of Rome.

Forgive me....

Prayer is offered to someone who has the power to do something. It is typically an element of worship.

I guess my question would be why not pray to the one who has the power to answer the prayer?

CC&E

When someone prays to Mary, it makes lots of assumptions about her, too. Like she can actually hear everyone who is praying to her at the same time, on a par with God.

Indeed. They have answers for all of this, but like I said before, sounds more like an excuse than an answer. They say that God gives her that ability or something like that.
