• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Paris, I will certainly pray for you and your Mom. I drank and used drugs myself and I know the trouble it causes those around us. I have not drank in 19 years and my children still have bitterness about it. Try not to become bitter, your Mom is probably very sick by now if she has been drinking for very long. The mental and emotional sickness brought on by addiction makes it hard to even want to stop. There are groups called Alanon and Alateen that offer support group meetings where you can talk with other people your age who have the same family problems you do. People share what they have learned about dealing with their drinking family members and their own feelings about that. And remember, God does miracles every day-this could be your day! You can look online or in your local phone book under Alcoholism for alanon family groups.

I agree with these others that Gods mightly hand will move on behalf of your mother...Keep believing God and his word...Speak the word over your home...Jesus I ask you to keep my sister strong till her Mother is saved and healed from alcohol..Touch my sisters spirit and give her rest...Give my sister wisdom and knowledge on how to deal with her mother...We shall run and not faint..Those who wait upon the lord shall renew their strenght..God blessings

I am praying for your Mum, and for you. :prayer: My children prayed for me for years, :groupray: and I finally was able to quit. I went to Alcoholics Anonymous. My kids went to Alateen. Just know that you didn't cause your mum to drink, and you can't stop her from drinking. She has to want to stop on her own.

Hugs,
Madison

I'll keep you, your mom, and your family in my prayers, Paris. My father drinks alot too and since my family is Russian it's not neccessarily seen as a bad thing. But we know what it does to our loved ones' bodies. May the Lord come into your mothers life and change it!! God bless.
