  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pray fast and hard!!

Okay, here's the situation. I'm in Texas, in the tornado alley. A huge storm with several large tornadoes already in it is coming right for us, the worst part headed straight for my city. I'm usually not frightened by this weather, it's common, but I am seriously scared this time and need prayers. Lots of them! Please, take a moment to pray for me and this city.

I'm still here. I have about 20-30 minutes. It does look like the main cycles are heading downtown...where i'm not, but a whole lot of people in traffic jams are. I might rather it hit here. But more cycles could pop out, though i'm fairly calm now. Prayers will probably be needed for the next hour or so. Sadly, this is nowhere near over. I can't wait to move out of this state. I don't like these stupid things, even though i've been through a multitude! I don't guess they're things you ever like, though. These are really big, multiple ones though. Eek!

I'm happy to say that we missed it...we only got a little strip of the nasty red parts. This one was really scary while it lasted though. They're normally routine, but for some reason this one was so frightening, especially since several tornadoes were spotted.

Terri: fortunately for you, this huge storm is dying!

Thanks for your prayers. Ah, I hate those things. I love storms, but when tornadoes come into the equation, it gets scary, even though it's almost routine. A couple of my friends were in a car during it! I guess i was fortunate to be home!

Glad to hear that you are ok. :)

We had a tornado pass through are town 2 years ago. I could see it from my front room window. We all ran downstairs not knowing if it was coming straight at us or where it was going. It did miss us. Very scary. I have learned to take all weather warnings seriously.

God bless you
Roberta

We went through the same thing. One came through town, destroyed the neighborhood grocery store, and knocked around some trees in the park. Very frightening, I never prayed so hard in all my life! WARNING is certainly a scary word to hear!

I plan to move to Rhode Island. They don't have tornadoes there. :D
