• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together.   • Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private.   • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Three weeks on meds, and I am feeling better than I have in a long, long time. I just wanted to tell y'all. It seemed like the symptoms got alot worse and my depression really got bad, but just out of the clear blue, it lifted. I have actually felt HAPPY today.

Great news that the meds. are kicking in for you. The fact that the medication helps at all confirms that OCD is due to a chemical imbalance of serotonin.
How was church for you? Any episodes of disturbing thoughts? It's OK if you had them but now I'm hoping that with the aid of medication you can just let them be there without attending to them in any way and get on with worship.
So glad to hear your feeling better. I remember that wonderful moment when a feeling of contentment and happiness came over me after a very long and dark struggle. It's like having the shade lifted that has been pulled down for a very long time and suddenly the sun with all it's warmth and beauty shines in. Such a blessing!

Church was nerve wracking. No bad thoughts, and someone got saved. However, instead of getting in line to shake the person's hand, I fled after the service. It hurts that I cannot feel any joy for someone else.

No obligation to share specifics if you don't desire to, but what about it is nerve-wracking to you? Is it just because spiritual topics are discussed there? I know if I am upset at church about something that is said, I have no desire to stick around and chat either.
