• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Praise for SOF and Floating Axe.

Thanx Fin.

But it is not my doing. God is the One that gives us this bulldog faith. Here is one of the best examples of this type of faith:

8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. 9 Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen. 10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. 11 Then they secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God." 12 And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council. 13 They also set up false witnesses who said, "This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law; 14 for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us." 15 And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel. ...

...
1 Then the high priest said, "Are these things so?" 2 And he said, "Brethren and fathers, listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, 3 and said to him, 'Get out of your country and from your relatives, and come to a land that I will show you.' ...

51 "You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. 52 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers, 53 who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it."
54 When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth. 55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, 56 and said, "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!" 57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; 58 and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." 60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

What he believes in is irrelevant.
It´s exactly what is relevant for any discussion.
Addressing the person or discussing his characteristics is off-topic, in the first place - in any discussion.

But he has definatly shown a strong character, and quite frankly, if the bible is right HE IS CORRECT.
That´s a pretty big IF, and the IF that would have to be shown a fact before anything based on the premise becomes in any way relevant for a non-believer.

I mean how many of you atheists would go to a forum; give your views have everyone tell you it's wrong and that your argument doesn't stand up; and still be able -even after no sign of conversion- to lower you shoulders and plunge back in?

Is that a good thing to do? Not in my book. If you don´t consider the position of the target audience, you are actually speaking to yourself.
I could come here and post post after post saying "God doesn´t exist". It would cost me no courage, and the effort would be neglectible compared to the effort of addressing the points of my conversation partners individually. I don´t do it because it´s pointless and stupid. Doing pointless and stupid things is not exactly a virtue, in my book.

If you guys want to whine "his stance is to controversial and mean!" then do it somewhere else.
What I am whining about is that I have heard his stance a thousand times in my life and a couple of dozens of times from him, and unless he starts presenting some sort of argument he won´t even have made the first step into a discussion.

Oh so God only gives men strength and perseverance. How incredibly sexist.

Yeah, and take Faith's advice about coming up with decent arguments, I mean you should be sick and tired of looking silly right about now.

What he believes in is irrelevant.

Do you honestly believe that SOF is void of good characteristics skaloop?

I'm not going to commend his stance,

But I will congradulate him on him commitment.
and that he isn't making a half hearted attempt.
Infact if I was a christian I would be like SOF, I wouldn't pansy about I'd probably get to the heart of the matter.

The only difference is I don't believe in hell, damnation or any form of spiritual judgement!

But he has definatly shown a strong character, and quite frankly, if the bible is right HE IS CORRECT.

I mean how many of you atheists would go to a forum; give your views have everyone tell you it's wrong and that your argument doesn't stand up; and still be able -even after no sign of conversion- to lower you shoulders and plunge back in?

I see quite a bit of resentment mainly becuase many christians are getting told what many other religons have heard for 1000's of years. That; their going to hell becuase they believe the wrong thing.

If you guys want to whine "his stance is to controversial and mean!" then do it somewhere else. He is who he is no holds barred; and I appluad that

Best post of the year!

Many people in this sub forum have seen this place turned into a wrestling ring, thanks to all the "holy smackdown" threads started here by the people in question.

Many of us resent their thinking; however may I remind us all. Many of us have complained of being persecuted for our beliefs, so lets not give predjudice any more air time.

Floating Axe and Shield of Faith deserve respect because of their commitment. I admit it, even I grow weary of "oh no, thats not literal; you have to understand the jewish society that created that...."

Floating Axe and Shield of Faith have refused to do that, they have stood up and said "No, the book says what it says, and I'm taking that as testimony!" Which I commend and would agree with were it not on the topic of religon.

And from their obvious hatred of heathens and sinners, it's quite clear they practice what they preach.

And for this they deserve a bit of praise so here it is.. well done.

Shall we also praise the Grand Dragon of the KKK or the local neo-nazi or members of the Taliban for their commitment to their faith?

To the questions above:

Many people do discriminate agaiinst fundamentals.

Commitment and consistency is good; I said I disagree with it in religous contexts, but what they have is admirable.

Can you picture someone pursuing their cause so vigarously, only for it to be a farce?

Also don't turn this into a "every christian wants to bring back the inqusition" thread. Give them credit or don't post; yes it really is that simple.
Really?

Fundamentalists are denied equal rights and legal protections? I wasn’t aware of that.

There are mass organizations that fabricate and post lies about Fundamentalists? I have never seen lies posted about life expectancy and the fact that fundamentalists have a life expectancy of 42 years or lies about how fundamentalists commit the majority of child sexual assaults or lies about how disease ridden fundamentalists are.

Could you perhaps share some of these with us all

Maybe that's how they're discriminated against. No one is giving them any discrimination and so they feel left out.

Huh? Most fundies are WASPs. Kinda hard to discriminate against those in power.

Up to a point. It is also a hallmark of insanity.

Can you picture someone pursuing their cause so vigarously, only for it to be a farce?
Yes. I find it hysterical. Just desserts and all.

Also don't turn this into a "every christian wants to bring back the inqusition" thread. Give them credit or don't post; yes it really is that simple.
It was not my intention to label all Christians. However, from my perspective, there is only a small step away from the people you are lauding and the people who blow up abortion clinics, malls, and skyscrapers.

I disagree with the OP because I find those poster (and others) to be little more than caricatures, which I highly doubt even exist in IRL. Debate with them, play with them or ignore them...but praise? I don't think so.

Just a little something I've picked up from my life experience.

I don't think that refusing to listen to someone else, or examining your own beliefs and ideas, doesn't show courage or insight, but cowardice.

There is a Buddhist saying, "If someone says they are seeking Truth, listen to him. If someone claims to have found Truth, run far away in the other direction."

What have I heard? They have The Truth. It's not their truth, but God's Truth. Everything they believe is God's belief. Sure, their beliefs may conflict with the beliefs of other Christians, but that's because the other Christians are wrong!

And we should applaud someone who claims that they have nothing to learn from others, but only teach, because they have all the answers? One shouldn't applaud a person that considers he may be wrong, or changes his belief, becomes that shows a sign of weakness?

Holding to belief and not listening to anyone is far more a sign of weakness. Telling people who is and isn't a Christian is a sign of weakness. Being only able to start thread after thread telling people that God is coming to destroy everyone, so they had better repent, but having no other ability to speak of compassion, forgiveness of sin, humility, kindness, etc., is something to be commended? Tunnel vision? Christ said to the Pharisees that they tithe mint, and dill, and ignore the more important things like mercy and justice.

Was Jesus wrong to speak harshly to these men who claim to be leaders to God, but misled their followers?
Were the Pharisees correct to be so focused on the wrongs things, because they were so persistent?

And most of their threads are more about them than God.

I find their threads time wasters, and conversations with them like trying to negotiate with a DVD as to whether the person should open the door or not.

The threads are pointless, and usually try to draw more attention to themselves than God.

Go figur'.

why should we praise those who show the very worse of the christian faith? we shouldn't, they fail at practicing the two commands of jesus and you say we should praise them for it?
i'd say we should ignore them and realize that jesus expected people to be BETTER for following him not worse

why should we praise those who rant about revenge fantasies or lie about what they said before?
when other christians disagree with you, not only from one denomination but multiple ones, why should anyone think you know what you are talking about?

Or maybe you just can't understand any of his statements because you are not one of Jesus Christ's sheep??

"To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

"And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.

"Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers."

"I did tell you, and you refused to believe me. The works that I do by my Father's authority make it plain who I am. But you do not believe in me because you are not part of my flock.

Or people who lie and make false representations of their faith?

In general, the two are disagreed with by the majority of Christians here, as well as some of the nonchristians that have read the bible and see it being misued by the two. They claim to know all the truth of God. How is that even possible? Does one learn everything about God, and then have a plateaued relationship with God?

Only if one stops learning, or willingly refuses to learn any more.

So, are they simply two people that have all the answers, and everyone else is wrong? Or, since so many people disagree with them, could it be that they are misguided?

The fruits of the Spirit are love, patience, mercy, kindness, hope.
I don't see them in these two. I see arrogance, haughtiness, a titaliaiton of God's wrath and revenge, condemnation, and something that borders on hatred.

Even the bible warns me against these wolves in sheeps clothing.

I find them a boring waste of keystroke.

You obviously have never paid much attention to the whole counsel of God. You forget that God has commanded us to preach and teach good and correct doctrine. You forget that TRUTH is to be taught and understood. You hate this, but that is your bad; not God's.

TRUTH: God hates abortion.

TRUTH: God hates homosexuality.

TRUTH: God hates adultery.

TRUTH: God hates fornication.

You may hate these facts, but that does not mean that now I have no fruit of the Spirit within me. It means that I am keeping to the Word of God. I will not bend and bow down to the liberal hatred of God's Word and try to dismiss the above Truths as "Irrelevant to modern society".

I will laugh at all attempts at labeling me with "hate" when I confirm God's Word by teaching these Truths. That is why you are angry. Someone will not bow to the liberal assault on God's Word. So sorry.

I find the hatred of God's Word to be boring and I know that all keystrokes against GOD'S WORD will come to nothing! Did you catch that? I said I KNOW FOR A FACT that all keystrokes against God's Word are worthless and will be blown into the wind like chaff (Mt. 3)!!!

The hatred of the heathen is boring.

The love of GOD is awesome!!!
