• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

 • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Praise for SOF and Floating Axe.

Many people in this sub forum have seen this place turned into a wrestling ring, thanks to all the "holy smackdown" threads started here by the people in question.

Many of us resent their thinking; however may I remind us all. Many of us have complained of being persecuted for our beliefs, so lets not give predjudice any more air time.

Floating Axe and Shield of Faith deserve respect because of their commitment. I admit it, even I grow weary of "oh no, thats not literal; you have to understand the jewish society that created that...."

Floating Axe and Shield of Faith have refused to do that, they have stood up and said "No, the book says what it says, and I'm taking that as testimony!" Which I commend and would agree with were it not on the topic of religon.

And from their obvious hatred of heathens and sinners, it's quite clear they practice what they preach.

And for this they deserve a bit of praise so here it is.. well done.

Well, I guess praising them is the Christ-like (and mature) thing to do, so I'll join in as well. Although I don't agree with their methods, I do have to admit that I admire their tenacity. You guys have definitely got some spunk (and I'm not using that word in the British sense, lol).

How does disagreeing with someone constitute resentment, prejudice, and persecution?

To paraphrase William Shakespeare, you could say they believe not wisely but too well.

And from their obvious hatred of heathens and sinners, it's quite clear they practice what they preach.
We can't really tell actions from their posts, only read their words. They could just be classic internet tough guys (there's a good definition of it at Encyclopedia Dramatica).

a person with strong faith does..Its good to be that way.. People should try to actually digest what SOF says before getting so immediatly defensive and attacking him..
So it is good to be strong in faith? Like strapping explosive to you and walking into a crowd strong? Or just burning heretics at the stake strong?

To the questions above:

Many people do discriminate agaiinst fundamentals.

Commitment and consistency is good; I said I disagree with it in religous contexts, but what they have is admirable.

Can you picture someone pursuing their cause so vigarously, only for it to be a farce?

Also don't turn this into a "every christian wants to bring back the inqusition" thread. Give them credit or don't post; yes it really is that simple.

Thanx Fin.

But it is not my doing. God is the One that gives us this bulldog faith. Here is one of the best examples of this type of faith:

8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. 9 Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen. 10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. 11 Then they secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God." 12 And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council. 13 They also set up false witnesses who said, "This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law; 14 for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us." 15 And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel. ...

...
1 Then the high priest said, "Are these things so?" 2 And he said, "Brethren and fathers, listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran, 3 and said to him, 'Get out of your country and from your relatives, and come to a land that I will show you.' ...

51 "You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. 52 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers, 53 who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it."
54 When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth. 55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, 56 and said, "Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!" 57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; 58 and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." 60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Should we stand up and commend committed racists? Should we celebrate rapists for their actions? Should we cheer for abusive husbands who practice what they preach?

Obviously, those examples are far more extreme than what SoF and FA do. But their ideas are no more deserving of respect than the ones I mentioned. No idea is. No belief is. Not even my own. But to celebrate the ignorance of people just because they are strong in their beliefs is unnecessary.

I don't see how the middle verse had anything to do with the post itself but, okay.

SoF, can we try coming up with an ARGUMENT? You know? A retort. Evidence to prove your point. Saying "Weak" to every post that disagrees with you is not an argument. It makes you look like a 7-year-old, no offense. But being around 7-year-olds a lot, it's easy to see the similarities.

What he believes in is irrelevant.

Do you honestly believe that SOF is void of good characteristics skaloop?

I'm not going to commend his stance,

But I will congradulate him on him commitment.
and that he isn't making a half hearted attempt.
Infact if I was a christian I would be like SOF, I wouldn't pansy about I'd probably get to the heart of the matter.

The only difference is I don't believe in hell, damnation or any form of spiritual judgement!

But he has definatly shown a strong character, and quite frankly, if the bible is right HE IS CORRECT.

I mean how many of you atheists would go to a forum; give your views have everyone tell you it's wrong and that your argument doesn't stand up; and still be able -even after no sign of conversion- to lower you shoulders and plunge back in?

I see quite a bit of resentment mainly becuase many christians are getting told what many other religons have heard for 1000's of years. That; their going to hell becuase they believe the wrong thing.

If you guys want to whine "his stance is to controversial and mean!" then do it somewhere else. He is who he is no holds barred; and I appluad that
