This is sort of a praise report/testimony combo....except it isn't mine. The Lord has performed a great miracle in my midst and this is a wonderful opportunity to talk about it.
I've known my boyfriend, Jim (Metalvikng here), for over four years. We hadn't been together long when it became evident to me what kind of person he was. Not only was he a card carrying (yes...he had a card) Klan member, he had an explosive temper. He was openly hostile toward other races and verbally abusive even to me. He would go on rampages for days where he'd take every frustration out with verbal insults and shock attacks.
In February of 2004 another of these episodes happened over a video I'd wanted my daughter to see. This one lasted for over a week and I finally told him that Tuesday that I wouldn't subject myself to it anymore and our relationship was over. For some reason (I know now it was heavenly intervention) we decided to at least go to a movie that afternoon. We saw The Passion of the Christ.
Long story short (perhaps it's too late for that
) from that day on Jim became a new man. He, like the rest of us, is a work in progress, but the change in him has been astounding. Not only has he renounced racism, his best friend is a Latino gentleman. Not only has he gained compassion, he's now a complete Vegan. I see evidence of tolerance and acceptance in him that I NEVER would have thought possible. There's not been a single angry outburst from him since that day. Not one. Of course we've had arguments and tempers have flared, but it's a different man that I see now. Sadly, and unbelievably, his family has not supported this change, but it hasn't hindered his progress and he continues to allow God to work in his life. He's a miracle of God and I love him
