This might be a dumb question but I have been confused lately with how to worship. I know that praising God is thanking Him but what exactly is worshipping God and how do I do it?

When you revere God you worship Him. Prayer is worship. Giving praise is worship. Even when we do things for others we worship God because it is done out of love for God. Worship gives glory to the King.

There's so much to it.

In its simplest terms, worship is exalting something to the highest priority and place in your life; what we give our time, our energy, our attention, our affection and our resources to. It is that which we do, say, and think that brings pleasure to the heart of God; anything that expresses our love for Him.

There is also a kind of worship where there is a sacred connection with God that often generates indescribable and uplifting emotions. This spiritual connection can be made through any number of things like song, music, prayer, art, the beauty of God's creation, or through the touch of another person.

Communion with God through His beloved Son ---the Lord Jesus Christ, is worship and is done in your heart (regardless of how many works one also does). There is collective and personal worship ---among the gathered saints and being at the Lord's supper; and also in your daily and personal relationship with the Lord. One should always walk and talk with the Lord Jesus and they will be blessed.

Good question. You should bear in mind that the worship God outlined in the Old Testament to the Jews was very ritualistic and liturgical in style. In the New Testament, the style of worship in heaven is shown to be definitely liturgical as well. Given that, all early Christians worshipped ritualistically and liturgically. And so in my opinion the way to worship God is to mirror the worship of the angels in heaven.

The best way to worship God is to enjoy Him fully; delight yourself in God and you will be worshiping Him. There is no need to confine yourself to a church service and prayer books in order to glorify, extol, and praise your Maker. Saturate the events of your daily life with joy in knowing and walking with your God and you'll find a deeper, fuller expression of worship in doing so than in any other form of worship.

KB,

Worship is simply doing what pleases God with an honest and grateful heart.

Here are 9 things I can think of that are pleasing to God:

1. Worship through music and singing hymns and praise and worship songs.

2. Through prayer. Remember to tell him how much He means to you.

3. Read the Bible. Whether a verse or two or whole chapters at a time; God is pleased when we read and study his Word.

4. Obey God. Do what the Word says; ie, forgiving others, not judging, doing good works.

5. Tithe. Give 10% of your net earnings to God by tithing to your church or a Christian organization/charity of your choice.

6. Build deep trusting relationships with other Christians of integrity.

7. Share your faith. Tell your testimonies of how God saved you and how He has further blessed you and answered your prayers.

8. Serve others with a joyful heart; never begrudgingly.

9. Develop a constant attitude of thankfulness.

The greatest pleasure for the Greatest, is to be recognized as the Greatest, by the worship of his creation, the lesser. We worship God for who he is as a person, his character, nature and attributes. We praise God, for the great things he does.

It is called a sacrifice of praise, because you leave your things, and go and do God's things, worshipping him. God does not exist for us, but we exist for him.
