Practices of Denominational Leadership (Revelations Chapters 2&3)

Mat 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the (denominational) commandments (instructions) of men.

Mat 7:21-23sot every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he (saints) that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Mat 7:22 Many (unsaved) will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful (dead) works? Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity (complete injustice). denominationalism

Mat 16:12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees (law sect) and of the Sadducees (sect deny resurrection). denominationalism

Col 2:22 Which all are to perish with the using; after the commandments (instructions) and doctrines (beliefs) of (heretics) men? denominationalism

Heb 13:9 Be not carried about (lead) with divers (several) and strange (hard to understand) doctrines (beliefs). For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

1Jn 2:15 Love not the world (system), neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1Jn 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust (unnatural use) of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride (self-esteem) of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1Jn 2:17 And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides forever. 2Cor 4:4 Lucifer is god of this world system

2Pe 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers (mockery), walking after their own (chosen) lusts, 2Pe 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 2Pe 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

Crews of Lucifer
1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing (attract) (spirits (fallen angels), and doctrines of devils (cruel fallen angels); 1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy (say one thing and do another); having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Rev 2:14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumbling-block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication (sex outside marriage). Rev 2:15 So have you also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans (denominational clergy), which thing I hate.

2Co 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves (denominationalism) into the apostles of Christ. 2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 2Co 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

2Pe 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily (secretly) shall bring in damnable heresies (at odds with general belief), even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (2Pe 2:2) And many shall follow their pernicious (destructive) ways; by reason of whom (Jesus) the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. (2Pe 2:3) And through covetousness (desire for your money) shall they (denominationalist) with feigned (insincere) words make merchandise (ask for money) of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingers not, and their damnation slumbers not.

God Judges Evil

(2Pe 2:4-8) For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;(2Pe 2:5) And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;(2Pe 2:6) And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; (2Pe 2:7) And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (2Pe 2:8) (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;

Deeds of those becoming familiar with Salvation of Jesus

2Pe 2:9 The Lord (Jesus) knows how to deliver the godly (saints) out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust (unsaved) unto the day (White Throne) of judgment to be punished: 2Pe 2:10 But chiefly them (unsaved) that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. (2Pe 2:11) Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing (criticize) accusation against them before the Lord. (2Pe 2:12) But these (unsaved), as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; 2Pet 2:13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they (unsaved) that count it pleasure to riot in the daytime. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceiving while they feast with you; 2Pe 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they (unsaved) have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

The Way of Balaam

2Pe 2:15 (denominational leadership) Which have forsaken the right way (Jesus), and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 2Pe 2:16 But was rebuked for his (Balaam) iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

Deeds of Denominational Leadership

(2Pe 2:17-22 These (denominational leadership) are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. 2Pe 2:18 For when they (denominational leadership) speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure (those living clean) through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. 2Pe 2:19 While they (denominational leadership) promise them (those living clean) liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 2Pe 2:20 For if after they (those living clean) have escaped the pollutions of the world (systems) through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again (1) entangled (involved*Heb 6:1-6) therein, and (2) overcome, (3) the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. (2Pe 2:21) For it had been better for them (become familiar with) not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known (become familiar with) it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. (2Pe 2:22) But it is happened unto them (become familiar with) according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

I feel you are mistaken in inserting in brackets words like "denominations" and "denominational leadership" into the bible verse you quote. For example, 2 Peter 2:17:

“These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.” (2Pe 2:17 NKJV)

You insert "denominational leadership" after "These", but if you look back a few verses to verse 10, a verse which you quote earlier, Peter tells us who he means by "these":

“and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. [They are] presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,” (2Pe 2:10 NKJV)

Now, some leaders of denominations may walk according to the flesh, be presumptuous and self-willed, and not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, but there are other people who could be described in that way. It's too much of a generalisation to say that all leaders of denominations are like that.

Respectfully, what is the point you are trying to make; quoting Scripture is fine, but you need to state your thesis if you are going to support it with Scripture.

Matthew 7:28 KJV — And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were *astonished at his doctrine:

Jeremiah 2:12-13 KJV — Be *astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD. For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of* living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold *no water.

2 Peter 2:17 KJV — These are *wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
2 Peter 2:19 KJV — While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

Judas Covenant. This is absolutely denominations
Matthew 26:15 KJV — And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they *covenanted with him for thirty pieces of *silver.
Judges 9:4 KJV — And they gave him threescore and ten pieces of *silver out of the house of **Baalberith, wherewith Abimelech hired vain and light persons, which followed him.

**Baalberith Baal-berith | Canaanite deity | Britannica peacefully under Joshua, was called **Baal-berith (Lord of the **Covenant Matt 26:15) or El-berith (God of the Covenant). Shechem became the first cultic centre of the religious tribal confederacy (called an amphictyony by the Greeks) of the Israelites during the period of the judges.

*vain and light persons
Anashim raikim oophochozim, 'worthless and dissolute men;' persons who were *living on the public(Judas Covenant,Denominationalism), and had nothing to lose. Such was the foundation of his Babel government. By a cunning management of such unprincipled men most revolutions are brought about. Jdg 11:3; 1Sa 22:2; 2Ch 13:7; Job 30:8; Pro 12:11; Act 17:5.

1 Corinthians 15:2 KJV — By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in *vain.
Who else would peter be talking about for this current age we are in?

If you have to literally add things to the Bible to make it say what you want it to say, then there is a 100% chance that you're reading it wrong. Perhaps, to be charitable, we can reduce that figure to 99.999%, so to permit at least the possibility of being correct--but that's all it is, being charitable.

"Don't add things to the Bible" is not usually on the list of basic hermeneutical and exegetical rules, because it should go without saying.

Non-denominational Christians are also denominations within themselves. Most of it is recycled theology, my friend. They are very close to Baptist or have Calvinist leanings.

Look at the early Church where various sects were splitting such as the Gnostics***, etc. The Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians became completely separate around 70 AD with the destruction of the second temple.

Since then, there has been various sects, thousands upon thousands of times over, with their own leadership.

Each can be called a "denomination" if you will.

***gnostics are not considered Christian

Sometimes people are buying into Satan's lies and aren't even aware of it. They are totally oblivious, and end up separating themselves from all sources of good faith formation and biblical teaching. They often claim to be the only ones who have access to the truth and act in a very high and mighty way, as though they are more spiritual than everyone else.

Matthew 7:13-14 KJV — Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Very few will find denominationalism. That makes sense doesn't it?...

I would think if a person has an individual based faith, that person should realize there are the same pros and cons on both individual and group levels.

Personally, I can see similar positive and negative tendencies within the confessing Church I belong to and among other Christian confessions. I stick to the Orthodox confession of faith and believe any Christian who confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior & believes keeping His commandments in faith will be saved ( John 14:15-18) and that I have no privilege over other Christians.
