CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I always wondered how the neocons talked him out of running. I (a conservative) would've voted for him and I believe we wouldn't be in half the mess we are with him in charge.

This is sanity prevailing (we've been in over our heads since we made the mistake of going over there), but I pray it doesn't set a precedent for kowtowing to the UN as a permanent policy. Treating them with a little more respect (from a distance) is fine, but this could easily be used as a springboard for more de-progress toward their goal of devouring what's left of US sovereignty (and our way of life/freedoms, including religion).
President Bush is supposed to address the UN in three weeks. Last year at the same time, he announced that he was selling us out to UNESCO (which he did this July in H.R. 1950, to the tune of $71 million we needed - as police and firefighters were getting laid off in NYC). His father swore allegiance to the UN during his presidency. I dread hearing what he gives them next, but we'd definitely better keep an eye on him (and dig beneath whatever pabulum we're fed in mass media headlines about his address).

I don't understand how you can be a fan of Colin Powell, when he is one of the most pro-UN voices in the administration. Is your beef strictly with UNESCO, or with the UN as a whole?Brother Christman said:
