  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

OK...as alot of you guys may know, I started with Andie last Friday, so it's been a week....(*drum roll*)....

She started last night telling me that she had to go!! (as opposed to telling me this AFTER she had an accident! lol) Also, she has for-goed her potty chair, and opts to use the removable seat to use on the big potty....she just decided one day that's what she preferred! lol

Of course, I still take her pretty regularly throughout the day, but have stretched the time in between...and if she needs to go before the "pit stop" (*lol*), she's now telling me! Every once in awhile, she'll have a little "leak", but she stops herself because she tells me & when we get to the bathroom, she can finish...

I have her in pull-ups for naptime, but for the past 2 days she's been dry when she wakes up...do you recommend me keeping her in panties for her naps?

Also, I still do a diaper at night...and she's usually a little wet in the mornings. Should I up that to a pull-up now or wait a little bit until we've got the daytime thing down?

Thanks again for all the previous advice...and anything else you want to throw my way, feel free! lol

Wow, you are so lucky to have a 2 1/2 year old that still naps. :)

I wouldn't worry too much about getting her out of pullups for naps or night times. If she is dry every day for a week or more after her nap, then maybe you could try it. However, if you think it will upset her to wake up wet, then don't do it yet. Also make sure you have a waterproof mattress protector. If she gets upset about waking up wet, it could slow down the day time training, and after all it's only been a week. She is doing so well.

Daniel was dry at night not long after he was potty trained (still prefers the potty chair over the toilet :sigh: but at least he is reliable and doesn't have accidents) but that's because he was 3 when we got him potty trained. I have heard of children who are nearly 4 who are still wearing nappies to bed, so it's not a big deal if she needs a nappy at bed time.

I wouldn't rush the night thing. It is a different thing to the day thing - there is something in the brain that has to develop, and there isn't really anything you can do to make it happen faster. So let her settle into days first, before you attempt nights.

It's great that she is stopping herself. That is a really crucial step, as it tells you that she is biologically prepared. There is a muscle that they have to develop before they can do this. It is usually faster to develop in girls than boys. So the fact that she has worked out how to use this muscle is great.

If she is dry in the day I'd give the pants a go. May as well get her used to the idea that day time is panties time! If she starts having too many problems, you can always go back to pull ups or nappies. We haven't really bothered with pull ups. They are just so expensive! We may think about them for night training.

Congratulations on the amazing progress

She is doing really well! It's encouraging that she's dry or mostly dry upon waking too. Whatever you decide to do about naps and bedtime will probably be fine, because she seems to be catching on so well and is showing good control over those muscles.

We kept our daughter in pull-ups for naps only for a little bit after she was potty trained. Just had her go to the bathroom before her nap and she was fine. As for at night, we kept her in pull-ups until she was making it through about 2 weeks with no accidents. Then we stopped. She has never had a accident since then.

The only thing that I have been told before and I am not sure how accurate it is is that pull-up don't let them know when they are wet. If they are not wearing them they are more likly to wake up and stop themselves.
