  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi All,

We are potty-training our three-year old today. Please join us in our prayers for us to exhibit patience and support for our son. We also pray that he has success and confidence as he attempts this "big boy" milestone.

Also, any advice and anecdotes are greatly appreciated.

I'll be praying for you!

I can't have children, but I do remember helping to potty-train my niece, Chloe.

One time, she came running out of the bathroom yelling, "I dood it! I dood it!"

Yep, she dood it all right. In the tub. Apparently she had an issue with the toilet lid. Mom went out and got a thinner, lighter plastic lid, and she had no problem with that one. It went real well after that.

Let us know how it goes!

All good things

Good job, Mama! Looks like you're on the right track.

I'll keep praying. Accidents happen, ha! Do you have those plastic pull-up pants for him? Those are great in case of accidents.

Do what I did... I had to go on a 5 day business trip. I dropped my 2, almost 3 year old, off with my mother and said "I'm going to potty train him when I get home."

When I got home, I picked up my son from my mom's house and she said "By the way, he's potty-trained now." That was all the potty training I did. :D

Apparently the day I dropped him off, she told him it was his last day in diapers. The next day she put him in underwear and set a timer for every 30 minutes to go to the bathroom, even if he didn't have to, and she'd give him a marshmallow. The next day she set it to every hour, same routine. The day after that, she reminded him at various points in the day. The day after that, he was flying solo and doing business on his own. I was totally floored. LOL

Ha! That works!

This can be done! Just make sure the toilet lid is cheap plastic and light, and if you don't have pets who will get in there and make a mess, you're good!

I guess maybe ... I don't know. I'm not a Mom, but just an Auntie.

But Chloe sure learned very nice bathroom habits. That does help a lot!

All good and kid things

We raised and potty trained our four. My wife also potty trained another couple of kids she brought in for day care. What works well for one may not work at all for the next kid.

Thanks for this! I have about a year an a half before potty training will come our way, but I am trying to gather ideas now! If one way doesn't work, I'll try something else.

I started potty training mine early and even though it takes longer, I thought it was worth it to have that stage done. What I found to work best was to set aside a few days and just give them a sippy cup of juice and salty snacks and take them to sit on the potty every 5 minutes. If they keep drinking, they keep peeing, and that helps speed up the process of making that connection!

i am not a fan of reading books about babies but this ebook saved me when it came to potty training. it tells you step by step on what to do and what is the most important for me it is short!!! You can read it in no time at all! www.parental-love.com

I dont't know anything about two others guides but this one saved me!
