Potential Relationship

Hello,

I am currently a freshman in college, and I'm a member of my college's community band. There is a girl in the band who is a senior in high school, and I was thinking about asking her out on a date. I've really started to like her, and I feel that we would be great together. After high school she is planning on going to a university that is about three hours away from where I'll be at. I'm not sure if a long distance relationship would work out, so I'm unsure if I should even ask her out in the first place. Do you think I should ask her out even if a long-term relationship might not work out?

I'd say ask her out and have a good time.
Maybe not think about becoming to emotionally attacked till you know each other and if you still want to go further in the relationships then talk about the long distance thing.

Do what you want to do. Take a risk. Have fun. Long distance may work out, or it may not. You may go out on a date and decide she's not as interesting as you previously thought and the long distance thing becomes a non-issue. Just have some courage and go for it.

As someone who's about to get married in 4 months, and my distance was 2 hours for the first year, and 6 hours for the second, I can assure you long distance can work. Do a bit of praying first.

I only see her once a week at our band rehearsals, so I don't know her extremely well. I still know a fair amount about her though, and we share a lot of common interests.

Well if it's still a while before she's going to college somewhere else, then you at least have plenty of time to have a here-and-now relationship and see if it's still the right thing when it's time for her to go.

Pray hard. If you really like her, ask her out but keep your expectations low.
