Do Christian's and Pot mix?

What health benifits does pot actually have?

If one does have the odd toke, what do they say to
their children, and at what age?
Should they be honest? Or should they keep it in the closet?
Children are learning to be anti drug in Kindergarten (anti drug includes everything from booze, cigarrettes, pot, etc). I do agree with parts of this...however for an adult to have a drink or a toke is it really so bad?

Does God really look down on a person that uses anything to relax every so often?

I think parents need to be honest, but at the appropriate time. I wouldn't tell a young child about everything I did when I was young and stupid. But I would, as they got older, explain about responsible drinking, etc. and perhaps share a few stories from my past to illustrate. Both pro and con :)

I am a christian and I used to smoke it. Got me paranoid like heck so I quit. I would be honest to then and when they start asking question I would tell them the truth and not try and scare them into not doing it like the D.A.R.E. program tries to do.

A good site for parents to go to that is informational about drugs of all sorts and not biased is erowid.org.

Sure, if one can justify the connection with the occult and pagan religions along with giving oneself a lobotomy for a few hours.

It is useful for calming nausea and stimulating the appetite for chemo therapy patients. I'm not aware of any health benefits like, say beer, which at least has a small amount of food value.

...however for an adult to have a drink or a toke is it really so bad?
If you could talk to Eve about indulging in "just a taste, what harm could it do?", I believe she would tell you that it isn't worth the risk of missing God's best for our lives.

I was in college in the 60s-70s, so I smoked a pretty fair amount of grass. I can't say I had any adverse effects. I made it through undergrad and professional school and graduated with honors. And I never had even a moment's desire to do coke, or meth, or anything stronger. But when I hit my early 30s, I just lost interest in it. I guess I just grew out of it. I now confine my mind alteration to a very dry, icy cold, Tanqueray martini before dinner. Breakfast of champions, as the late Mr. Vonnegut so rightly put it.

Whoa now, you're the one who should be justifying the connection! Please do this so I can refute it :)

Lobotomy for a few hours? Have you ever smoked weed? I can do quantum physics homework just fine while high

It is clear that not only has theVirginian never smoked weed, but he also has no idea what it is.
The health benefit of pot is that it makes life awesome.

What are the health benifits?

I think pot is a gateway drug.

I'm sure there are some controlled users out there. The problem with drugs is once you try it there's a high chance you'll like it and want to continue.

A lot of the serious addicts I've met all entered addiction through so called harmless pot and beer.

I'm not against it for moral reasons though. I think gambling with any drug is a risk. Many people don't see the results of the risk for years later.

By the way, thanks to the grace of God I've been sober and clean for five years and three months. For me, God's will is for me to be clean and sober.

Not everyone who tries pot develops a problem. I think pot is one of those things that seems harmless. Then you wake up tens years later and say "How the heck did this happen??"

I think pot is a gateway drug.
Can this property be attributed to the pot itself, or is it due to the nature of the personality using it?

IOW, does pot cause people to want to try harder drugs, or do the people who use pot already have a predisposition to experiment?

Is the predisposition to experiment possibly a side effect of the legal status of pot or its current role in society?

I take alcohol as an example. Alcohol is legal yet it is not considered a gateway drug, even though pot does not possess any less or more "gatewaycibin" than alcohol. Alcohol has social precedences as far as when it is appropriate to use it, what activities are commonly performed when using, and where it is used. Pot, being illegal, is often acquired from individuals who may already be using more than pot and often have various ties with other illegal activities.

Explain....

What are the health benifits?
There are no physical health benefits per se, however the different outlook on life afforded while under the influence can be a positive effect.

I use pot somewhat regularly, and I find that it causes me to have a more passionate response to things and I have less of a tendency to take normal, everyday things for granted-- it feels as though I am experiencing things for the first time when I engage in activities in that state of mind.

My mind also tends to wander off on tangents, sometimes with genius realizations and insights I wouldn't normally stumble upon when sober-- the only drawback is that I often forget these "moments of clarity and lucid thought" seconds afterwards...

I basically think that it says a lot about our society, that a substance that makes one more insightful, passionate, sensitive, and relaxed is illegal and considered immoral, while another substance, that causes people to become uncoordinated, loud, boorish, violent, abusive, and confrontational (not to mention, physically and cognitively disabled) is legal and considered okay.

I really dont understand the logic behind beer and cigs being legal and pot not.....I smoke and toke occasionally this being once every couple o' months. The high is well worth as and big blunt of dro can keep me a 6'4" high for 5-6 hours. YES 5-6 hours. Slowmotion for the first 5 and coming down gradually for the rest of that time. 6-7 with really good stuff which is cheaper in texas cause we are closer to the border where its smuggled. Paranoia?!?! nope, Creativity yes! I have made some of my best drawing while high. A gateway drug?!?!? only for the weak really. Addicting....again only for the weak on this one. I used to smoke like every other day when I lived by my friend. Great times. Weed is harder to get here as well regardless of all the dealers here...also alot of cops acting like dealers. I will not hide my love for the sticky green stuff because it is not an addiction. YES IT IS NOT AN ADDICTION!! 10 times worse than cigs??? yes and no...10 times the amount of tar in one joint but how many joints do you smoke in day VS cigerattes in one day hmmm? A very fun substance really because beer tastes like the inside of a toilett bowl really....BLEGGH such a bitter taste. And wild turkey liquor is really only good if mixed with Dr Pepper and it still tastes like turds. WEED FOR ME!!!! Cigerattes are also disgusting bleggh! Bongs are fun because they cool the smoke off before you inhale. Steamrollers are rather difficult to use IMO. But my personal fave *get ready folks!* a Gravity bong! The absolute hardest hitting toke you get IMO! All this propoganda they have on Tv shows where you smoke and instantly hallucanate jelly beans and what not is simply not true with your typical weed. Mushrooms maybe but those are kinda dangerous from what I understand BUT THEY ARE FUN!!!!! I tried them once and I went to sleep! LOL NEVER EVER FALL ASLEEP ON SHROOMS....the nightmares.... I really dont know what else to say but I love that icky sticky! I havent had any in like a month and a half. Ill be due for a blunt bye birthday next month! BTW I really dont know anyone who hasnt tried it...but thats really not a good reason to start because typically those who start out of peer pressure are 3 times likely to hurl LOL! Health benifits....IDK I just like being very relaxed.. Yeah and please dont ban me for being honest....cause this is like coming out the pothead closet IMO lol please dont ban or erase my post PLEASE? GOD BLESS!

I probaly should of mentioned I am often depressed and think of suicide more often than not so often times when I smoke I am trying to get one day of relief from all the trouble that seemed to happen when God said "Hey I am gonna take a huge dump on that guy's life" Sorry if this makes anyone made but while I love God as my God and will bow before him and his son Jesus is my savior I still have my issues with Them...the same way a kid my be angry with his parents but still love them with all his heart.....sorry God Bless

It was common with ancient religions. The Rastafarians are probably the best known cult in modern times that use it, but there are also New Age religious groups, some of which hide behind the Christian label.

Have you ever smoked weed?

Every time I give my opinion on this subject, I am asked this question. :)
I came out of the counter culture of the early '70s. Pot was my drug of choice.

Im not a doctor or a Councellor but I am against drug usage to bring ones self out of depression...
I just hope your not doing that on a regular basis (that wasnt the point of this post-it was to find out where God stand on Pot usage :sorry: or whether its ethical to do as a parent for those that dont believe in God I suppose).

Thank you for being honest...

I smoked pot as a teenager (pot and hash...did Acid a few times...also over the counter pills etc).
Anyways Im back smoking pot the past year. Every month or so...just to relax.
A part of my reason that is is to relax, the other is because I missed out on a huge part of my youth and I suppose I want to relive it. Now that my kids are a bit older and Im still young enough to enjoy life somewhat Id like to have some fun before Im too old. Get what I mean?
I also feel like a hyprocrite though as Im always preaching to my kids how smoking, drinking and drugs are wrong...(and here mom tokes up or hits the Ceasors everytime we go out to eat-Dad doesnt-dad isnt really into drinking either) LOL.
:sorry:

:prayer:'s for you-not for the drugs but for the depression as Im there also at times :)

I don't think that smoking pot is necessarily "wrong," and I don't see it as un-Christian, either. Of course, it needs to be seriously controlled---no driving or operating machinery while high, kids. I think it should be legal and regulated like alcohol, and I think the "toking age" should be 18.

Personally I don't smoke pot. I toked up twice when I was sixteen, and never since then. I wasn't even high, it probably takes a lot of hits to get me there. I don't know, and I don't really care, either. I don't drink and never have, and I don't really like cigarettes, either. Personally I've always been more into sex than drugs, but I love sheesha (hookah) with strawberry/orange-flavored tobacco. :yum:
