i did a rapid edit of my 2004 nano to take lulu up on their offer in january 2005. i haven't really touched it since but there's this one section i know i have to fix. i didn't like it when i wrote it, didn't like it when i edited it, and still don't like it. the only reason it's still there was because i couldn't think of a way to change it.

I'm not planning to take the lulu offer. I languish under the delusion that I may have an eventually publishable story, and I'm not sure whether a lulu publication, even of only 1 copy would put the story in "reprint" status if I get to the point of searching for a publisher and/or agent.

What's lulu?

Editing 50 000 words is depressing, much worse than writing them in the first place. Just the thought of untangling the mess gives me angst. Plus I found the nano I started & ditched in frustration at the begining of all this & it looks interesting again. Wonder why? Maybe I should try again after Christmas.

Plus I am doing the Christmas message for our tiny church - I am a writer so it all gets written out before it is delivered - but the clutch went on the car so no Chrissy shopping has been done & December just seems to be burying me. Can you breath underground?

Unfortunately, I get my best writting ideas when I don't have time to write them. Sigh. Like now.

Lulu is a POD, an online publisher that prints books when they are requested (bought), and so will publish a lot of books that the big publishing houses won't take a chance on. I've not submitted to them myself, but I know people who have. You can check them out at lulu.com

As for editing--write notes to keep track of all the details and surround yourself with them, they will protect you from the blatant discontinuity things.

I turned in a short story for a contest at another forum (sffworld). I hope it does well, it's kind of an unusual story.

But then, I could second guess myself forever.
