Please post your stories here about how God has met and exceeded your needs after you began tithying. *There are several folks out there who desperately need encouragement now!
Either God's Word is true or He's a liar. The first thing to do is to tythe 10% TO YOUR CHURCH on what you and your spouse bring in monthly--now.
THE only time we are to TEST GOD is with finances. TEST HIM NOW. Just make sure you adhere to the following:
1. You and your spouse must be agreed on tithing--and on the amount you tithe.
2. You must be agreed also that this 10% is Gods and not yours. Thank Him for allowing you to be stewards of His money and give it back to Him gladly, in faith, that He will fill your storehouse to overflowing. Stay in faith on this--that He will bless you and give you what you need--AND MORE. *If your storehouse is overflowing you not only have what you need, you have MORE than you need.
3. Study tithing now and share what you find with your spouse.
4. Believe.
He will absolutely bless you and anyone who tells you anything otherwise is not giving you wise Biblical counsel. YOU MUST TITHE NOW.
I have several stories about tithing that some may not even believe them...here are a couple...
Before I stopped drinking for good, when I had been a Christian for over a decade, I was drunk one night and the Holy Spirit prompted me to put $500 into a floppy disk storage box I had. I was drunk, so the next day I had forgotten about it. For some reason I didn't even miss it then--sorry I don't really remember why, but I just have no memory of missing it. Well, about 5 years later, a couple of years after I had gotten married, changed states, and changed jobs, My wife and I needed $500 one day desperately--sorry, but I don't even remember why, but I do remember that it was something that we couldn't do without--I'm thinking that maybe it was when our water heater went out--anyway, we were tithers then and I remember we had looked at each other with our mouths hanging open and realized that we needed the $500. Then, all of a sudden, the Holy Spirit pointed me to the computer disk box. I honestly didn't even remember putting the money in there, then after I opened it up and found the $500, a memory of the incident slowly began to materialize. No kidding.
Another time when I was a young Christian and first began tithing, I realized that I didn't have enough money to pay my bills one day. The next time I went to the bank I found that someone had deposited $1100 in my account! No kidding.
But these are only two times that I KNOW ABOUT. Undoubtedly, God has spared us from the flat tires and carried us those few extra miles on the tank of gas that wouldn't have lasted long enough, and how about those countless unseen near misses where we could have been in car accidents or plane crashes, and so on. *Don't forget to watch out for THINGS that you need as well as cash money. If your toilet stops working, you may run into a free toilet giveaway at the local hardware store or something nutty like that.
Don't worry--instead, have faith. God's Word is true and He said specifically to test Him in this (money). He says specifically NOT to test Him in other things!
