Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. That would be the ideal.Maximus said:I don't want to see a sub-forum for the Non-Chalcedonians but rather a totally separate forum.

Just a year ago we all got along to pick a common saint between us for the forum. Remember it is the Oriental Orthodox Forum as well. If anyone needs to be thrown out it is the ones who want to debate them here.

I simply posted a couple of links to some articles I thought all Orthodox Christians should read.jeffthefinn said:There was no debate until about a month ago when Maximus opened it up, and then tikon began his push to tear the forum apart. Matrona said:If our Oriental Orthodox brethren in Christ our True God want their own forum, they are perfectly capable of asking for one themselves. Otherwise, the current arrangement seems to me to be adequate.
As for the intercommunion with Coptics and other non-Chalcedonian Christians, I really have no comment except to say that the Antiochian Patriarchate and the OCA are both canonical jurisdictions in communion with the Ecumenical Patriarchate and all other canonical jurisdictions of the Orthodox Church. Yes, this is something of a mess. But just as it is not our calling as a forum to repair the Great Schism, it's not our place to fix the schism between the Eastern Orthodox and the non-Chalcedonians. Our church is badly in need of a pan-Orthodox council--an eighth Ecumenical Council.
A "traditional Orthodox" forum would be absolutely redundant, as all Eastern Orthodox Christians, myself included, accept all Seven Ecumenical Councils. This will not be required.
Well, my good mood from church is gone. I'm going to go hit up St. Athanasius for some prayers. I love that guy. Also, because of his whole deal with Nicaea I, he seems like a good guy to ask for help with church schisms... HINT HINT!!!

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't get why this is such a big deal. (I do understand all the history and doctrinal/theological and historical differences, however.)
I get along just fine with the Copts who have posted here. I simply avoid arguing where I disagree with them. Hint, hint.
St. Tikon said:Quite frankly, I have more of a problem with Jeff.
At least the Copts are firm in their beliefs. To be attacked by one who calls themself Orthodox, yet acts like something else, is far worse.
When I was baptized, I affirmed my belief in every dogmatic teaching of the canonical Orthodox Church. So if you are accusing me of violating my baptismal vows, I hope you are somehow my spiritual father in disguise.St. Tikon said:It is quite obvious that some who claim to be Orthodox DON'T accept the Councils, hence the need for another section.
