The sunlit portion of Saturn shines through the curtain of the planet's rings in this image from NASA's Cassini spacecraft. On average, Saturn's rings are only about 10 meters (30 feet) thick. They are made from chunks of mostly water ice that range in size from dust specks to the scale of mountains.

Were you fascinated with subjects concerning outer space, the planets of our solar system, etc. as a child like I was, Sif? :)

I was quite (and still am) fascinated by astronomy. Grew up watching Star Trek (TOS) reruns. I can remember how fascinated I was with the movie 2001: A Space Odessey when it was on cable, and its sequel 2010. Some of my favorite movies are 'hard sci-fi' such as Ad Astra, Interstellar, Silent Running, The Martian, Outland, etc. I do enjoy science 'fantasy' (space opera) such as Star Wars and the Dune and Foundation series. I've read quite a few of Ben Bova's Grand Tour books on the colonization of the Solar System. I even have several board games on space exploration such as High Frontier and Stellar Horizons.

I college as a non-science major I had to take 14 credit hours of a science. All 14 of mine were in Astronomy. The two uper division classes were on Solar astronomy and Radio astronomy.

I would love to have been an astronaut, however, I do not have the math background and I found I had an aptitude for investigations (criminal and otherwise), which is where I now work (I am NOT law enforcement, but I do assist them at times).

That does sound fascinating. I now wish those had been offered as part of the general education requirements at my college, for I definitely would have selected them instead of psychology and beginning golf. ^-^
