My fiance and I are getting married next Saturday (8 days' time!).
The planning of the wedding and honeymoon has been stressful, because my parents and I don't get along all that well, and my parents and my fiance don't get along all that well either. Don't get me wrong, we have their blessing, but there are a lot of personality differences and I have been in tears a lot recently because of the stress of organising everything in such a short timeframe (we started preparing about 4 weeks ago) and the constant arguments.
On top of all of this... a representative of the sheriff's department showed up at our door today and handed me a "Notice To Vacate Property". She was very nice, mind you, and helpful - but that doesn't change the fact that we will be kicked out of here by 4 May (the Friday after we return from the honeymoon) unless the landlord (who's apparently behind on the mortgage) comes to some sort of a deal with the bank's solicitors.
When my fiance (Digit on CF) called the real estate agent, she said that apparently the landlord ALWAYS falls behind on payments and they ALWAYS catch up and evictions never occur... but that didn't soothe our fears much.
I do realise that if worse comes to worst, we can probably stay at my family's place... but to be honest I'm not too fond of the idea (because of the aforementioned personality conflicts), and hey, we will be newlyweds... we want our privacy, y'know?
Please, please pray for us.
Pray that all of us will really work to avoid conflict, that the wedding preparations will continue to go smoothly and that the ceremony itself will go over without any major dramas, so as to reduce the stress factor as much as possible.
Pray that the real estate agent will not be tardy about informing the landlord, and the landlord will not be tardy about contacting the bank's solicitor.
Pray also that the solicitor and the landlord can come to some sort of an agreement to stop this eviction from going ahead - we have so much on our plates at the moment, this came at the worst possible time. I am not employed and my fiance is not entirely happy with his current position - our finances are on shaky ground because of the wedding and a bunch of other things, we don't need this as well.
God willing, all will be well, but please pray.
