  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, I don't have any good news really. They didn't see a sac. So there is a high possibility of being an ectopic preganancy. I had my HCG levels checked after the doc visit & it is really high & the doc said he should see something at that high of a level. I go back FRi. for another internal ultrasound to see if by chance there is a sac to be seen. If not they will have to terminate the pregnacy via a shot. I am really saddened today but I do know God is in control & who knows the ultrasound machine may not have picked it up by some chance today.

If you could keep me in your prayers it would be greatly appreciated.

Having an ectopic is nothing to fool around with. However, many women, especially those with tilted uteri see their sacs and their babies later even with high hcg levels.

Take a look at www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com and feel free to email me. I talk to women all the time who believe they are miscarrying early. Some go on to miscarry and some don't. I've gotten pretty adept though at spotting the ones who have a bit more hope.

Five weeks is early and if there is any chance of your dating being off, the sac can take a bit longer to be seen. However, if you develop serious pelvic or lower back pain, shoulder pain, faintness or any abnormal symptoms, be seen immediately. I've seen ectopics be misdiagnosed, though, a number of times so it's a tricky situation.

What are your hcg levels (if you know them)? And, if you don't mind sharing personal information, when was your last period and when do you believe you conceived? Are your cycles generally 28 days?

Praying for you. I know all too well how scary not knowing what is going on can be. (((hugs)))

Thanks ladies for the prayers!!!

Today my Hcg level was 2981. LAst week the level was around 600 or so. The first day of my lst period was April 30th & ended May 6th. Conceived on the 14th. But could have conceived ont he 28th as well but I didn't think that was the date due to my period being due then. And yes my cycles are like clockwork. The thing I have wondered though is I have had some side pains & lower back pain not extreme or anything & I have just thought it was due to being pregnant since those were signs as well. And I get really tired in the evenings.

I am going to keep praying that Fri. there will be shown a baby.:prayer: :prayer:

I am assuming you had seven days in between blood draws? If so, your levels have a doubling time of about 73 hours and the normal doubling time for levels between 1200 and 6000 is 72 to 96 hours so those levels look good. Your level last week was pretty low and often a sac will not be seen. Generally over 2,000 a sac can be seen but there are exceptions. I know because of my severely tilted uterus, my hcg levels were well over 100,000 before we could even see anything in the sac.

I'll definitely be watching for your updates and remember if you do start to feel abnormal pain, be seen. Unfortunately, the problem is, though, that the power of suggestions can increase or decrease pregnancy symptoms.

I'll be praying for you and this little one

Praying for you and the baby.

My first miscarriage was at 10 weeks. I can't remember exactly what my levels were, but I do know that they only increased slightly. Your #s looking promising. Are they going to do repeat bloodwork along with another ultrasound? I would ask them to.

Thanks again for the prayers!

Oregal, yes I have had days in between on the blood draws & they are progressing like they should according to the doc. I will have lots of questions for the doc when I go Fri. He has been wishy washy on what he has told me throughout all of this & one minute I have miscarried the next I am still pregnant.

Karla, theya re going to do an ultrasound Fri ( internal) . He didn't mention bloodwork. But I have had bloodwork done the last 3 weeks.

Would your doctor take absence of a yoke sac in the womb to be confrimation of an ectopic pregnancy? Or would he confirm first that it's an ectopic pregnancy.

I'm a little concerned here because it seems that fridays ultrasound is too early, doctors will normally wait a week - If I were you, which I'm not but if I were, if nothing showed up on fridays scan I'd be tempted to get another one sometime in the middle of next week.

What was so strange is yesterday I had 2 interanl ultrasounds & a regular ultrasound. In the ultrasound room he had ruled out ectopic. Well, he then ordered bloodwork after not seeing a sac on the ultrasound & the bloodword came back fairyl high or where it should be. So he called me & told since that was the case he was ruling ectopic & I had 2 choices to come in a few days later or to terminate. So I am going in on Fri.

That is what is making me think about this doc. Very wish washy.

I agree. I hope it all works out and that baby is just hiding!

You may want a new doctor. Too many doctors are quick to scare women into D&C's. Do not be pressured into the D&C. You many want a second opinion.

I also want to say, I was nine weeks (and there was no possibility of being earlier) before we could see my daughter with transvag u/s and I had had four prior transvag u/s's with her in which they were positive I was going to miscarry. It is only because I know two people who lost all ability to have children as a result of the d&c, that I was insistant upon having a natural miscarriage. With the possibility of ectopic, you do need to be careful but this could very well be a case of a doctor throwing out a diagnosis much too early.

Right I totally agree with you & it seems this whole time he has been wnating this to be ectopic for some unknown reason. I mean he practically did tell me the clot I had was a miscarriage & I needed to have support & such I was a wreck & now this. I jsut really didn't like how it was you have 2 choices to come in in a couple of days or go ahead & get a shot. They can give shots if it is ectopic.

Do you know what your HCG level was when they finally saw your daughter or before then?

I just know that by the time they found her my levels were way over 100,000 and only a week earlier at 8 weeks, we just saw a large very empty looking sac.

By my seven week u/s, they had filled my head with all that nonsense saying that with my high hcg levels we should have seen the baby already and with as big as the sac is, a baby is ALWAYS seen and that the transvaginal u/s ALWAYS sees the baby by this point.

Well, they were very wrong and since then, I've talked to so many women who have similar stories. Women just need to realize they can question a diagnosis and they can wait if they know to watch for any warning symptoms of infection, ectopic, etc...
